The 2011 Lakewood BlueClaws Media Guide was written, researched and edited by Sean Houston and Greg Giombarrese. Many of the statistics listed in this guide are provided by the Philadelphia Phillies and Baseball Advance Media, the official statistician of the South Atlantic League and Minor League Baseball. All photographs that appear in this guide were taken by David Schofield unless otherwise noted. All information is as of March 30, 2011.

Media Guidelines & Procedures
CREDENTIALS - To obtain press credentials, please call Sean Houston or Greg Giombarrese at 732901-7000 ext. 111. Phone requests should be made at least one day before each game. All credentials can be picked up at the BlueClaws Will Call Window at the ticket office at FirstEnergy Park. CLUBHOUSES - The Lakewood BlueClaws clubhouse is open to accredited media up to 45 minutes prior to game time. There will be no admittance during rain delays or between games of doubleheaders, unless designated beforehand. Please allow for a 10 minute cooling off period upon completion of game before entering the clubhouse unless other arrangements have been made. FIELD AND DUGOUTS - The playing field at FirstEnergy Park and the dugouts must be clear of all media representatives 45 minutes prior to game time. PRESS BOX - The press box is located directly behind home plate on the suite level and is open to all working media. Press notes and statistics are provided to the media approximately two hours before each game. The press box is furnished with electric outlets at each work station. There are four phone lines available for sending a story and they are located on the first and second levels of the press box. Free WI-FI is also provided for an internet connection.

MIKE COMPTON - Field Coordinator Born: 8/15/44 in Stamford, TX... Resides: Tampa, FL... Former catcher. Returned to the Phillies organization in 2004 as the catching coordinator after a 26-year absence. Spent two years (2005-06) as the field coordinator before returning to catching coordinator for the 2007 and 2008 seasons. Resumed his field coordinator duties for the 2009 season and also doubled as the catching coordinator for that season. Originally drafted by the Phils in 1965, he spent 12 years in their minor league system as a player (9 years) and coach (3 years). Only major league experience came in 1970, when he appeared in 47 games for the Phillies. Coached in the Reds farm system from 1978-82 before taking a 17-year sabbatical from professional baseball. Became a partner in a telephone system repair company called T-COMM after leaving the sport. Joined the Tampa Bay organization in 2000 as a minor league coach/coordinator before returning to the Phillies. His son, Scott, was an outfielder in the Dodgers minor league system. GORMAN HEIMUELLER - Pitching Coordinator Born: 9/24/55 in Los Angeles, CA... Resides: Salt Lake City, UT... Former pitcher. Pitched 14 years of pro ball, including parts of two in the majors with the A's (1983-84). Spent 10 years coaching in the Twins organization for Visalia (A, 1987-89); Orlando (AA, 1990); Portland (AAA, 1991-94); and New Britain (AA, 1995-96). Moved to the Dodgers organization as pitching coach for Vero Beach (A, 1997-98). Joined the Phillies in 1999 as Reading's (AA) pitching coach, moved to Scranton (AAA) in 2000, returned to Reading for 2001 and has been the minor league pitching coordinator since 2002. STEVE HENDERSON - Hitting Coordinator Born: 11/18/50 in Houston, TX... Resides: Tampa, FL... Former outfielder. Moves to the role of hitting coordinator for 2011 after spending last year, his first with the Phillies, as the outfield/baserunning coordinator. Prior to joining the Phillies' player development staff, served as the Tampa Bay Rays' major league hitting coach for four years (2006-09). Played 12 years (1977-88) in the major leagues for the Mets, Cubs, Mariners, A's and Astros and hit .280 with 68 home runs and 428 RBI in 1,085 games. Finished 2nd in the 1977 NL Rookie of the Year balloting to Hall of Famer Andre Dawson. Began his post-playing career as a minor league coach for the Pirates (1990-93) before spending three years as the Astros' hitting coach (1994-96). Joined the Rays organization in 1997 as the minor league hitting coordinator, a role he also had from 1999-2005. Spent the 1998 season as the Rays' major league hitting coach.

David Montgomery General Partner, President and Chief Executive Officer
David Montgomerys first association with the Phillies was as working for the club in 1971 just in time for the opening of the new Veterans Stadium recently after graduating with an MBA from the University of Pennsylvanias Wharton School. Montgomery began his career in the Phillies Sales Office selling season and group tickets. He advanced to positions as marketing director and then director of sales before becoming executive vice president after the 1981 season. He was elevated to chief operating officer in 1992. In 1994, Montgomery was designated as co-general partner and acquired ownership interest in the team. On June 20th, 1997, he succeeded Bill Giles as general partner, president and chief executive officer. Montgomery has been associated with the Phillies through three stadiums since Citizens Bank Park was constructed. He also was part of a strong leadership to the building of Bright House Networks Field, the Phillies Spring Training and Clearwater Threshers home. Throughout his 38 years in baseball, Montgomery has been an active in a wide range of areas in Major League Baseball. He is also the vice chair of the Board of Directors of Major League Baseball Enterprises. He continues to serve on the MLBs Schedule Committee and is a member of the MLBs Labor Policy Committee. Locally, Montgomery is an active alumnus of the University of Pennsylvania where he served as a trustee. He is a member and past chair of the policy board of WXPN Radio 88.5 FM, the universitys member-supported radio station. He also serves on the Penn Board of Overseers of the Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts. In addition to his Penn activities, Montgomery serves on the boards of Need in Deed, a non-profit service-learning organization working with children in Philadelphia public schools, and the Philadelphia Sports Congress. He is a past board chairman of both the Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education and the Woodlyne School, a private K-12 school in Stafford, PA Montgomery was born June 26, 1946, and grew up in the Roxborough section of Philadelphia. He currently resides in the Wyndmoor section of Philadelphia. Montgomery has three children, Harry, Sam and Susa and one granddaughter, Elizabeth.

Sean Houston
Sean begins his first season with the BlueClaws after spending the previous two years with the Tampa Bay Rays as Broadcasting Coordinator. In that role, he produced and engineered radio broadcasts and oversaw relationships with several corporate partners. A graduate of the University of Florida, he has also worked at AM 850 WRUF Sports Radio, and was the Gator football beat reporter during their National Championship season of 2008. A lifelong Tampa, FL resident, he is a huge fan of the Tampa Bay Rays and Florida Gators.
