Colonel Antnio Henriques Rebelo November 14th, 1956 - May 21th, 2006 Antonio Henriques Rebelo was born on November 14th, 1956 in the village of St. Bartholomew of Galician in Lourinh, Portugal, son of Armindo Jos Corado Rebelo and Maria Antonia Henriques da Conceio Rebelo. He moved to the United States with his family in 1966 and settled in Massachusetts, where he attended to the Classical High School. After graduating at American International College in 1979, Col Rebelo entered the Training School of the United States Air Force and a year later, in the same year, he was promoted to second lieutenant. After technical training, he served in operational units in Minnesota, South Korea, Germany, Florida, Spain, Italy and Portugal. In 1996, he became Commander of the 603th Air Control Squadron at Aviano Air Base, in Italy. After leaving Italy, he served as Deputy Head and Head of the Foreign Liaison Office of the Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff at Headquarters U.S. Air Force.

He takes over in May 2002 his position as Chief of the Military Liaison Office of the United States in Brazil. On May 13th, 1997, Col. Rebelo and Teresa Manuel de Almeida Pinho da Silva got married. She followed faithfully in their subsequent assignments in Europe and in North and South Americas. Besides being an active participant and leader in the community of the Federal District in Brazil, Col Rebelo played flawlessly the role of Military "Ambassador" of their homeland along the Brazilian military and the diplomatic community in support of the U.S. Ambassador in Brazil and the Commander Command South Rebelo enthusiastically supported the Orphanage Acropolis in Valparaiso, and devoted countless hours of personal time, resources and efforts to renew, re-equip and improve the living conditions of those less fortunate members of the community. In his memorable administration, Rebelo, a noble friend, gave the inclusion of the Military Fire Corps of Brazil in the Office activities of Military Liaison. With his membership we, Military Fireman from Brazil, began a new process of exchange and training of our human resources with the Civil Defense agencies and the North American Fire Service. I emphasize great institutions such as Texas Baptist Men, the Texas Engineering Extension Service (TEEX), the Federal Emergency Management Agency, FEMA, the Coast Guard Training Center Yorktown's and dozens of Fire Brigades. We add to this simple tribute to the innovative spirit of Rebelo, as a must of justice, his gallant officers and civilian officials, particularly the majors Frederick Barrett and Lorenzo Harris, Captain Brent Dodd and Brgida Carvalho. I bestowed, in recognition for outstanding services rendered to the Fire Brigade, upon the distinguished Brazilian official and friend, our Honor Medal Chief Judge Moreira from our Corporation and the Medal of the National League of the Military Fire Corps from Brazil. Colonel Rebelo leaves his wife Teresa, his daughter Caroline and his son Richard, his parents lived in Ludlow, Massachusetts, two sisters, Mary Helen (Victor) Bruno, Montreal, Canada, and Irene (Kerry) Hackett, of Ludlow, Massachusetts; nieces Gina, Nancy, Stephanie, Kaiclyn, Sarah, and Jenny, and many relatives. leaves his faithful team under his command, his colleagues at the USA Embassy and countless friends around the world. The United States Air Force Colonel, Antonio Henriques Rebelo, 49, left for the eternal East at his home, surrounded by his family, on May 21st, 2006, after a courageous battle against cancer. We attended to the Mass in memory of Colonel Antonio H. Rebelo celebrated at 15:00 hours on Tuesday, May 23th, 2006, in the Parish of Nossa Senhora do Perptuo Socorro in Brasilia. The burial with full military honors was on Tuesday, May 30th, 2006, at Ludlow Cemetery in Ludlow, Massachusetts.

With admiration for all of us who knew him!
