I-20 for F-1 Visa DS-2019 for J-1 Visa F-1 is the student visa issued to most international student applicants. If you need an F-1 visa and you are already in the U.S. on an F-1, send a photocopy of your current I-20. J-1 is an Exchange visitor Visa. It is issued primarily for fully sponsored exchange scholars at the sponsor's request. If you need a J-1 Visa, and you are already in the US on a J-1, send a photocopy of your current DS-2019.

Visa forms will not be issued before April 2nd of this year. *Students holding student (F) or exchange visitor (J) visas are not authorized to work outside the University except under extraordinary circumstances. While some departments are able to offer teaching or research assistantships, to international graduate students, this source of support is not guaranteed.
