Lets all be considerate and keep noise limited to applause only. AUDITION SCHEDULES If you are registered in a category, you WILL be able to do each audition for that category. If you are registered in multiple categories, the iPOP! Staff will help you with your schedule so you can make all of your call times. If you have a question, ask an iPOP! Staff Member at the iPOP! CHOOSING MONOLOGUES FOR iPOP!

The information below is designed to help you in choosing your monologue(s). The following guidelines must be adhered to. PLEASE READ ALL OF THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION! When selecting a monologue, choose material that is suited to your casting age, personality, and look. In other words, you should realistically be able to be cast in the

12
101 Convention Center Drive, Suite 700, Las Vegas, Nevada, 89109 Phone: 702-448-2622 Fax: 702-9208732

role. So, if you are 16, dont do a monologue that is talking about college life. If you are 20, dont pick a monologue talking to your 9-year-old son! Choose monologues that make you laugh, cry, feel, or that you relate to. In other words, pick monologues that you like and allow you to draw from your own life experiences and emotions. Monologues which are active (meaning you are speaking directly to someone specific at the moment) tend to be better than those, which are reminiscent, speech-like, nostalgic, or highly descriptive stories. Make sure your monologue(s) is NO MORE THAN ONE MINUTE IN LENGTH. You will be timed and cued to leave the stage when your time is up. Also, keep in mind when you are reading and timing your monologue(s) that performing time will run longer than reading time. If you find a monologue you really like, but it is slightly longer than a minute, you should trim it down so that you may use it. If you need help in figuring out which lines to cut, please ask for help. However, do not bring in a 3 or 4-minute monologue to cut its too long and too difficult. WARNING: Do NOT! Choose materials that are suggestive, sexual in nature, or contain offensive language or behavior! If there is an offensive word in an otherwise suitable monologue cut and/or replace it with an acceptable one. Do not pick monologues that require dialects/accents, classical pieces (Example: Shakespeare), poetry, monologues on the phone, or monologues that are too old or young for you. Other preferred monologue material can be found in plays, film scripts, TV scripts, monologue books, short stories and novels. You can type up a great monologue you saw in a film or on TV. Monologues books, plays, and short stories can be found at most bookstores and libraries. You can also find movie monologues online. Go to a search website and then type in monologues. But make sure when youre looking that you adhere to the rules we have listed here, especially age range.

101 Convention Center Drive, Suite 700, Las Vegas, Nevada, 89109 Phone: 702-448-2622 Fax: 702-9208732

Many of you though have aptitudes and interests in more than one area. For that reason iPOP! offers you the ability to showcase that talent by entering additional areas of focus. iPOP! also offers you the ability to compete in the following additional competitions within your Primary Area of Focus:

Commercial Print Performers submit three photographs advertising a product or in a role advertising a company. All performers are eligible to compete. Headshots Performers submit a color headshot that would be used to interest an agent or casting director. All performers competing in iACT are eligible. TV Beauty Commercial This is an on-camera audition for those models who are camera ready. Models will perform a commercial script for which will be taped on a closed set. Winning Smile Contestants submit that one amazing photo. The one with the smile that stops people in their tracks. All contestants are eligible. Team Musical Each attending academy will create and perform its own Musical Performance. Should include Singers, Dancers, Actors and Models. Each team is given 5 minutes per performance and winning team will perform at opening Pep Rally. iJOKE! This will be a 1 minute improv comedy skit. Performers will write a 1 minute improv comedy skit that has been approved by their Director. The judging will be similar to TV commercial and TV Beauty.

Your iPOP! Director will advise you as to which of the above would be beneficial to you.

Note:

Performers can enter additional categories (iACT, iSING, iDANCE, iMODEL) for an additional registration fee. Performers can enter Commercial Print, Headshot, Beauty Television Commercial, Winning Smile, and iJOKE for additional registration fees. iPOP! Clothing Guidelines

Contestant Orientation/ Pep Rally & First Impressions:

Teen and above male/female should wear a nice outfit that makes you feel great. Keep it classic and bright solid colors work best. Your director may also decide to coordinate "matching colors" for your group ie white fitted tee and khaki bottoms or skirt. Actors and kids 12 and under should dress cute but comfortable. You will be waiting in short lines. Individual Awards & Dance Party Girls should wear a dress or skirt. You will see people in prom dresses! We suggest a simple cocktail dress. Guys should wear slacks and a dress shirt. Your banquet clothes do not need to be approved. Final Night Awards Banquet: Girls should wear a more formal dress or skirt. You will see people in prom dresses! We suggest a cocktail dress. Guys should wear slacks and a dress shirt and tie at a minimum. You will see many guys in suits and tuxes! Your banquet clothes do not need to be approved. Acting Competitions:

On bottom: khaki/brown/blue pants, skirts, or jeans. No baggy pants or jeans. On Top: Solid color shirts. Stay away from: turtlenecks, deep plunging necklines, large logos, or busy prints. Solid bright colors that are form fitting work best. Keep it classic. Think GAP, Old Navy, Ralph Lauren. Stay away from certain colors (black, white, or red) for taped TV Commercial competitions. Shoes: Clean tennis shoes ie Converse , loafers, boots (not hiking), ballet flats Minimal or no jewelry. Remember that the object is to look at your face, not your clothes. You probably have most of what you need in your closet. Make sure that clothes look new and neat. You do not have to have a whole new outfit for each competition. You can wear things more than once as different agents judge each competition.

16
101 Convention Center Drive, Suite 700, Las Vegas, Nevada, 89109 Phone: 702-448-2622 Fax: 702-9208732

Female Modeling Competitions (Over 13 years old): Swimwear One piece or two piece swimsuit, in a solid color. Try to avoid prints and keep as simple as possible. Think Vogue Magazine, not - Pac Sun. Simple black swimsuits look great on almost anyone. Runway Simple and Elegant. Clothing should show off your figure, but very tastefully. No baggy clothes!!!! Shoes Girls should bring black pumps and neutral strappy high heels (nude, gold, silver, any color). Shoes should fit well. Avoid slip-on styles. Avoid platform wedge styles, as it makes it more difficult to walk gracefully. Accessories keep jewelry to a minimum. Agents want to notice you, not what you are wearing. We will schedule times for you to bring in your clothing to be approved. Male Modeling Competitions (Over 13 years old): Swimwear - Younger guys will probably wear their own swim suits (board short type). Older guys will probably wear a Speedo type suit. Runway - Make sure you have black dress shoes or dress boots, a black leather belt, a white fitted dress shirt, and brief underwear. We will schedule times for you to bring in your clothing to be approved. Shorter (under 510) or younger looking teens will most likely fall under the guidelines for the 5-12 year olds below. We will let you know. Female & Male Modeling Competitions (5-12 years old): Swimwear & Runway The focus is much more on the model and their personality and less on the clothes for the younger kids. We suggest you set up a time and bring in all of your favorite clothes and even a few new selections and your director will put together great outfits for you.

17
101 Convention Center Drive, Suite 700, Las Vegas, Nevada, 89109 Phone: 702-448-2622 Fax: 702-9208732

If you buy anything new, leave the tags on until you are certain it is what you are going to wear for your competitions!

PREPARING FOR YOUR PHOTOSHOOT SCHEDULING: Please arrive on time. Its best not to make plans for after the shoot, as it is very common for shoots to go overtime. Everyone wants the best shot possible. Take advantage of the time with the photographer and make-up artist working with you to get a variety of looks. The shoot often becomes a very crowded place so we ask that the model/talent either arrive alone or with just one adult. Not too much and not too little the night before the shoot. Do not stay up late the night before your shoot. Relax and enjoy the experience. The model/talent must arrive with no make-up on. Be very sure to remove all mascara. If eyebrows need tweezing or trimming, have this done a few days prior to the shoot. Always check nose hairs, ear and facial hair that should be removed. Skin should be clear and lightly moisturized. Do not tan before a photo shoot. Avoid facials the day before a shoot, as breakouts can be common.

GUEST: SLEEP:

MAKE-UP:

HAIR: Model/ talent should arrive with clean natural hair. Hair should be dry. It is better for longer hairstyles to be washed the previous night. Any cut or coloring should take place at least one week prior to the shoot. Do not get extreme haircuts or highlights. Body hair should not be noticeable. Men, that means if you have hair, use a #1 or #2 adaptor on a beard trimmer. If youre a fitness or a body model, no body hair is best. NAILS:Fingernails should be natural and neutral. If any polish at all, it should be a clear coat. Do not wear fake or acrylic nails. Length should be kept short and natural. Dont forget to get a pedicure as wellmen too! Bad feet could ruin a good photo. ATTITUDE: Have fun. Go through magazines and get some movement ideas. Practice in front of the mirror and practice moving with your arms,

18
101 Convention Center Drive, Suite 700, Las Vegas, Nevada, 89109 Phone: 702-448-2622 Fax: 702-9208732

head, hips, etc. Practice makes perfect. The photographer will give you direction but you need to relax and get into the shoot. Its all about your attitude. What you are thinking comes through on the film. CLOTHING: Bring a number of outfits. Talent should make sure they are your casting age and look. Bring the proper undergarments and shoes required for several outfits. Dont forget to bring accessories and jewelry.

SUGGESTED ITEMS TO CARRY IN YOUR TOTEBAG

(FOR PHOTOGRAPHIC AND FASHION WORK) The TOTEBAG should be light-weight and large enough to carry many items. Canvas and nylon are best. Be sure that your schools name and phone number, along with your name is found easily in the bag. Marking your bag with a bright colored tag or ribbon can also be helpful when trying to find your bag in a large room. There will be many performers at the hotel and losing a bag can be very stressful. Female's Basic Model Bag

WHAT IS PROFESSIONALISM? In Los Angeles, you will not only be representing yourself, but also your team, and the iPOP! organization. There will be many exciting and important people throughout the week visiting this event. We want you to perform and be the best you can be, both on and off the stage. It could be described as knowing not only your craft or skill, but also how to conduct yourself in a manner that reflects credit on both you and your firm or profession. Professionalism is also: grooming, manners, adequate business vocabulary, good grammar, and language suitable to the firm and your position, and appropriate business decorum. GROOMING Personal cleanliness, neatness, clothes and hairstyle appropriate to your position. MANNERS A friendly smile, along with please, thank you, and an I care attitude. (Dont forget Im sorry and Pardon me). BUSINESS VOCABULARY AND GRAMMAR When you accept a job with a firm, you have the obligation to learn the terminology that goes with it in order to fill the position to the best of your ability. If you have personal contact with the firms customers, the obligation to present the best company image would also include the use of good grammar. The customer who hears, We aint got no size 7s is going to leave with a lessoned image of the firm and even more less of the employee. BUSINESS DECORUM In old western movies, the hero always wore a white hat and the bad guys always wore black hats; in real life we are often stereotyped by very similar standards. People who chew and pop their gum are stereotyped as dumb; people who swear excessively are judged as uneducated. This of course is not necessarily true, however, judgment can be and usually is based on a one-time exposure. The FIRST IMPRESSION is recognized by management as being extremely important. While most of us have heard all the bad words, and are not unduly shocked by them, a business institution is DEFINITELY not the place to use them. It sets a tone of

WHAT DO YOU SAY TO YOUR PROSPECTIVE SPONSORS? Take the color brochure you will be receiving about iPOP!, the letter provided by your iPOP! Director, and your personal letter to a prospective sponsor. Briefly explain the situation. Stress your commitment to developing a professional career in the fashion or entertainment world, your serious attitude and the fact that iPOP! is offering you an opportunity to showcase your talent and learn about the business from experts. HOW MUCH SHOULD I ASK FOR? Sponsors may contribute as little as $20 and as much as the entire trip. You can offer to work in exchange for sponsorships. Any business sponsoring you in the amount of $100 or greater, will have their name appear in the iPOP! Schedule Book and online at www.ipopconvention.com. For many companies this can be considered advertising and they can actually use it as a tax write-off. Please tell the company to consult their accountant regarding any write-off opportunities. More Sponsorship Information Can a Sponsor Provide Other Support?

Yes! While financial support is the most desirable, there are many other ways potential sponsors can help you get to iPOP!! Perhaps a local retail store will provide you with clothing. There may be a beauty salon that will cut and style your hair and use you as a model. They may even furnish some or all of your cosmetics. Check with a shoe store, they may donate a cute new pair of shoes for your trip to iPOP! You can also get items donated from local retail stores to raffle or auction. Sometimes retail stores are more willing to donate items or auctions or raffles because they get immediate exposure (advertising) this way.

What does the sponsor receive?

Besides the satisfaction theyll get from realizing their contribution the following recognition is given: Sponsors who contribute a minimum of $100 to you, before November 29th, 2011 will receive a listing in the iPOP! Schedule Book and at www.ipopconvention.com. The iPOP! Online Performer Directory can be accessed by every registered contestant, parent, and guest; including every agent, personal manager, and casting director who attends. Check with your Director first and if they agree, some sponsors may be eligible to hold a presentation at your school featuring their services. Others may want to have information about their business at your school.

What is a sponsorship packet?

Your very own personal PR packet! Every iPOP! Contestant who is seeking sponsors should have a Sponsorship Packet. Your packet should look professional and explain why you would like them to be one of your sponsors. Your packet should include: an iPOP! Sponsorship letter; a brief note from you stating why you want to go to iPOP! (stress your commitment to developing a professional career in the fashion or entertainment world, your positive attitude, and the fact that iPOP! is offering you an opportunity to showcase your talent and learn about the business from experts!); a photograph (laser copies are fine); a sponsorship receipt that they can use for tax purposes (if applicable); an iPOP! Corporate Brochure.

32
101 Convention Center Drive, Suite 700, Las Vegas, Nevada, 89109 Phone: 702-448-2622 Fax: 702-9208732

Your Director can help you with your Sponsorship Packet. They may have additional literature that could be included in your packet.

Is Sponsorship Tax Deductible?

Each sponsors tax situation is different. That is why we dont and you shouldnt answer this question for any sponsor! Every sponsor who inquires about this subject should check with his or her accountant. However, here are a few things you might choose to mention: A sponsorship in the amount of $100 or more received before November 29th, 2011 entitles them to sponsorship listing in the iPOP! Online Performer Directory. Therefore, many companies may find that their contribution is tax deductible as an advertising expense. Self-employed persons or small business owners may find that sponsorship of their family member(s) is tax deductible as an advertising as an advertising expense for the same reason listed above. Because iPOP! offers educational seminars and workshops, your sponsor may be able to write the expense off to education.

Remember to provide each sponsor with a receipt. Discuss with your Director who the sponsor should write the check to.

What Are A Few Other Suggestions?

Your director can be helpful in putting together group organized fund raisers that will benefit everyone in your group attending iPOP! 2012 Los Angeles. Car washes, raffles, bingo (if its legal!), doughnut and bake sales, spaghetti dinners, silent auctions, and candy sales are just a few ideas that have worked for other groups in the past. Sometimes someone in your group may be able to donate a really fabulous item that can be raffled or auctioned. (Check your local laws regarding raffles, auctions, or games of chance.) Clubs, organizations, and churches where you or a family member belong to might be willing to help you by providing a hall or space for your fund raiser. Dont forget to check with your local bowling alley and skating rink either!

101 Convention Center Drive, Suite 700, Las Vegas, Nevada, 89109 Phone: 702-448-2622 Fax: 702-9208732

Always remember to discuss anything you are planning to do with your Director beforehand!! Also remember, it often takes hard work and perseverance to convince a potential sponsor to make a contribution. Dont give up! Stay determined and focused and you will be successful with your fund raising efforts and on your way to iPOP! 2012 Los Angeles! and most importantly, always remember to say THANK YOU whether someone has given you a donation or not!!!
