Points to remember

In case you do not remember all your possessions while making your Will, address these assets as left out assets

Provide all details of the executor of your Will - name, address and your relationship with him.

How to validate a Will:

There is no set form of a Will in India and it can be written in any language, as long as the words explain the intentions of the testator clearly. For a Will to be considered valid: The testator needs to be over 18 years of age The document must be duly signed by two witnesses in the presence of the testator The witnesses should not be beneficiaries of the Will The Will needs to be attested by an officer at a registration office

For Birla Sun Life Policy:

Mention the name of the nominee who will receive the basic sum assured by Birla Sun Life Insurance. Also mention the tenure of your policy to specify the amount to be received. For ex: - Rs.1, 00,000 becomes Rs. 5, 00,000 in ten years.

Review your Will when:

Your name, your beneficiarys name or the executors name is changed Any assets are sold or new assets are acquired You want to exclude or include a beneficiary in the Will A beneficiary mentioned in the Will dies The executor of the Will dies or is rendered unfit due to old age or ill health

Know your legal terms:

Get familiar with the legal terminology for creating a Will Testator: Person who makes the Will Beneficiary: Person who inherits the property under a Will. There can be more than one beneficiary in the Will Intestate: If a person dies without leaving a Will, he is said to have died intestate. In this case an Administrator is appointed by the court to oversee all affairs Codicil: This is a legal document used to append, alter or add to an existing Will Executor: The legal representative of the testator. He ensures that the assets of the testator are distributed as per his Will Probate: Its an officially certified copy of a Will or the legal process of providing the authenticity of a Will and administering the estate of the deceased person by resolving all disputes and distributing the property Succession Certificate: The certificate issued by a court to legal heirs in the absence of a Will certifying the distribution of the deceaseds estate Power of Attorney: A legal instrument that authorizes somebody to act on your behalf

I, Tarun Shah, son of Sanjay Shah, born on the 7th of September, 1973 and resident of A 305 Wuthering Heights, Pali Hill, Bandra 45 do hereby revoke all the former Wills, Codicils and Testamentary dispositions made by me. I declare that this is my last Will, which I make on this 1st day of February, 2011. I declare that I am in good health and sound mind as I make this Will. I am the only person involved in the event of this Will being made and thus have not been influenced, cajoled or coerced to make the decisions mentioned below, in any manner. Nobody else has any right, title, interest, claim or demand whatsoever on these assets or properties.
