Getting Started with BXP in 60 Minutes Or Less

Quick Start Installation Guide
These are the key steps you need to follow to get BXP up and running in one hour or less. This Quick Start process is explained in much greater detail in the BXP Release Notes and the BXP Installation Guide that are part of the BXP Software that you will be downloading. We recommend that you begin your BXP implementation using one PC-class Server and one Master Client to learn how the remote boot process works. Adding additional Clients is a straightforward process that is explained at the end of this guide. Have a Question? Need Help? As part of our commitment to providing superior customer service, we are providing you with a direct link to our expert BXP Technical Support staff. If you have any questions about this installation process that cannot be resolved using this guide, the BXP Installation Guide or BXP Release Notes, contact our BXP Technical Support team directly at the following address: bxpsupport@vci.com. Please be sure to include all relevant information. That will expedite the process. Before You Begin This Quick Start Guide assumes all of the following are already present and functional. Follow this entire process in exactly the order presented A PC-class Server running Windows 2000, XP, or 2003 o The Server should have a static IP address o There should be at least 2 GB of free disk space to support the Golden Image A Master Client running Windows 2000, XP, or 2003 o PXE (Pre-boot Execution Environment) firmware either in the BIOS on the NIC (Network Interface Card) chipset. o The Master Client must have a standard hard drive. The Master Client serves as the source of the Golden Image that will be copied to the Virtual Disk (VDisk) on the server and will be the image for all Clients. Additional Clients may be diskless and the disk from the initial Client can be disconnected after the Master Client setup is completed. Familiarity with general computer configuration and networking Standard hub/router is preferred, or a cross-over cable to connect Server and Client Internet access - preferably not behind a web proxy server (i.e. firewall) Email utility configured on the Server Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on the Server and Client in order to access the BXP Installation Guide and BXP Release Notes Reference the BXP Installation Guide and BXP Release Notes for additional information at any step along the way.
