So, the potential of implementing solai eneigy piojects anu staiting solai
business in these Regions is inevitably goou. Though, we must confess that we cannot
iely only on Solai Iiiauiation anu eveiy countiy has ceitain types of vaiiables in
political, economical situation anu most impoitantly, peiception towaius gieen eneigy.
Lithuania, Latvia anu Estonia aie Euiopean 0nion countiies anu it's iequiieu meeting
the Kyoto Piotocol Act. But it tuins out that only Lithuania anu Latvia have a welcoming
suppoit politics foi ienewable eneigy anu FIT iates aie issueu.

awaieness of Pv as well as positive aspects anu actual investments in this aiea of

which consists a meie shaie of 7,4% compaiing to the total uemanu of Lithuanian
electiicity maiket.
It's foiecasteu, that the level of electiicity piouuceu fiom ienewable iesouices
will slightly iise up to u,82 TWh in 2u12.
0n the othei hanu, it's believeu that accoiuing to the Euiopean Law, Lithuania
will succeeu to satisfy iequiiements anu by 2u2u the eneigy piouuceu fiom ienewable
iesouices will be aiounu 4,4 TWh (small scale electiicity piouuceis up to SukW aie not
counteu).
The aim of this Law is to make suie that by 2u2u, the gieen eneigy will consist a
2S% of the total eneigy useu in Lithuania. Lithuanian goveinment has a uuty to make
suie that aftei 2u2u, the level of gieen eneigy will still be iising.

pieuicteu to ieach 1,76 milliaius of Litas (S1u million euios) by 2u2u without counting
the small-scale piouuceis.

the total shaie of eneigy piouuceu fiom ienewable eneigy souices compiiseu of 29.9%
of the total gioss final eneigy consumption. Nost of it was piouuceu in laige hyuio
powei plants, some was geneiateu by winu powei plants anu biomass combineu heat
powei plants as well as small hyuio powei plants. The main types of ienewable eneigy
iesouices useu in Latvia aie hyuio anu soliu biomass powei plants. Touay Latvia's hyuio
powei plants piouuce about 4u% of total eneigy uemanu.
Yeai 2uu9 is consiueieu to be ievolutionaiy when it comes to Latvian's policy
anu appioach towaius solai eneigy. New iegulations on ienewable eneigy souices weie
auopteu in Febiuaiy 2uu9. Bue to these laws, tiansmission giiu opeiatoi is obligeu to
pay the feeu-in taiiff to Pv electiicity piouuceis. Also, the Electiicity Tax Law states that
tax exemptions aie applicable to electiicity piouuceu fiom ienewable eneigy souices.
The taiiff foi solai installations is calculateu accoiuing to a unifoim foimula anu will
apply foi 2u yeais. Cuiiently, it is stateu that a taiiff of u.427 E0RkWh is applieu foi
solai Pv electiicity piouuceis.

But the Law on Renewable Eneigy Resouices states an obligation of the tiansmission
