Advantages and Disadvantages of Using the Internet in Studying Chapter 1

Introduction

Many people nowadays especially the youth of this era are fonder of using the internet that go to a public library and does a little research since the internet gained its popularity in the early 2000s many people find it more convenient to use. The internet originated in the Arpanet networking project by pentagons Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA) its goal were to allow scientist at different locations to share information and to function if part of network were disabled .It become functional in September, 1969.The Internet has grown 350 million nodes in 1984.No one controls the interest but there are some organizations that set standards just like the World Wide Web consortium (W3C). In order to use the Internet you must you must be computer literate first. Know how to use the computer then the usage of Internet will follow. Most people know how to use computer theres only 1 UN every 10 people that dont. The web is a type of document in the Internet, where one find whatever hes/shes searching for in a web page of any web site. You can browse as long as you want! This motivated the researchers to help fellow students to share what is the basic Advantages and Disadvantages of Internet.

Statement of the Problem

Generally, the purpose of this study is to elaborate the usage of the internet and books so that we can compare results. Especially it will answer the following questions: 1. What is the internet? 2. What are the advantages of using the Internet? How about books? 3. What are the disadvantages of using the Internet? How about books?

Scope and Delimitations This proposed study shall include the students of TIP manila. None teaching staffs and the teacher will not be included because they can be based about the continual usage of computer usage of computer.

Chapter 2 The Advantages and Disadvantages of Using the Internet in Studying

Theoretical Framework and Related Studies Related Literature Internet Knowledge consist of two aspects that are essential to the most common uses of the Internet; what people know about the Internet and what people can do using the Internet (Page and Uncles2004).These two dimensions have also been called declarative knowledge and procedural knowledge (Best 1989;Page and Uncles 2004).While declarative procedural knowledge refers to peoples familiarity with specific Internet terms such as cookies and browsers, Procedural is peoples understanding of how to perform relevant Internet task. Although Internet knowledge is a conceptually unique construct; the boundaries between this concept and Internet experience as well as internet self-efficiency are fairly blurred in past research. Experience has been widely demonstrated in many technology acceptance model-related studies to be moderating variable(venkatesh 2000;Vankatesh and Davis 2000;Vankatesh et al .2003).The concept of experience often refers to the same implied meaning as knowledge: more familiar with and more knowledgeable about the technology of interest (Sun and Zhang 2006).Measurements of experience also overlap with those of knowledge in previous studies (e.g.,Bozionelos 2004;Bradlow et al.2002).Nevertheless, Internet knowledge is different from Internet Experience. The former is what one knows, where as the letter is what one has done. People who have the same amount of internet experience may have different levels of internet knowledge. Other factors, such as demographics and personalities, may influence peoples internet knowledge too. The link between the two is straightforward: the more Internet experience one has, the more Internet knowledge one will generally acquire. But Internet experience is just one of the factors contributing to internet knowledge. Internet self-efficacy is similar concept, Bandura defined self-efficacy as. capability in which cognitive, social behaviouralsubskills must organized into integrated courses of action to serve innumerable purposes.(Bandura

1997:391).Similarly,Motocchio and Dulebohn defined self-efficiency as the judgments as individual makes about his or her capability to mobilize the motivation, cognitive resources and Corse of action needed to orchestrate future performance on a specific task,(Martocchio and Dulebohn 1994:358)

Significance of Study This study will be beneficial for the following 1. Fipinos-it will help then to have better understanding of what internet is all about and it use in our daily lives. 2. Students-they will know how to use the internet and learn the rules of using it. The basic dos and donts and props and cons. For example being given is how to avoid hackers and how to create a password for security reasons. 3.Family Members-this will be their reference of how they will guide their children on surfing in the internet and putting restrictions on their computer in order to prevent them from accessing malicious websites that can harm them in any way. 4. Future Researches-it will help them to have a background of that they will tackle on their researches.

These are results of the continual usage of internet around the world especially in south East Asia. The most used feature is social networking which is also the most popular trend around the world the perfect example would be facebook and twitter.

It can affect the labor force of employees. Thats why using internet in some companies are prohibited Health Risks-too much usage can make your eyes teary and can cause lower back pains, headaches is one of the effects.

Recommendations Base on the findings, parents should order to lessen their attention from using theirs study instead of using internet and twitter recklessly, it can also affect the way making then hard to focus on studying. Conclutions The following are the conclusions observed by the researches: The Internet is the primary reference in information gathering mostly used by students Its the most popular medium for socializing with others The highest rate of usage of Internet is in Southeast Asia Some websites are not secure making it vulnerable to hackers Some people dont know the proper way to used Internet. Some of them are posting inappropriate photo and offending messages that why websites have filtering systems that can analyze what the post is all about.

Recommendations Base on the findings, these are the following recommendations Made by the researches; Parents should spend more time with their children in order to lesser or the time of using the Internet. It is more advisable that the people themselves should teach their children instead of relying on the found in the Internet. Rest for 15 min-30 mins and look 20 meters away in order to relax the eyes and ease its construction. When using a desktop, the level of the legs should be at 90 and the monitor as at nose level in order to prevent from over exposing at the radiating being emitted. When using laptops, avoid placing it in your lap specially for men because it can cause infertility problems. Excessive heat from the laptop can damage the reproductive system.
