Audience Questionnaire Results

We asked 10 people to fill our questionnaire about our opening sequence. We began with asking 3 personal questions. These three questions were; Gender, Age and Favourite Genre of which they could chose any of the following choices; Action, Adventure, Comedy, Crime, Horror and Romance. We asked these questions in order to establish who was answering our questionnaire and then also to see if there was a correlation between their ages, gender and favourite genre to their answers on the multiple choice questions. Out of the 10 people who filled out our audience questionnaire, 7 were male and only 3 female. They were all either 16-17 with 4 being 16 and the 6 others being 17. The table below shows the favourite genres and how many people circled each one. For this question they could circle as many as they liked.

Genre Action Adventure Comedy Crime Horror Romance Thriller

Amount of People 5 3 5 2 5 2 5

This table quite clearly shows that the favourite genres were; Action, Comedy, Horror and Thriller all with 5 people who circled it. This is a good statistic for our group as our opening sequence is a horror film so it should appeal to at least 5 and quite probably more.

These are the results of the four multiple choice questions on the audience questionnaire. It was good to see a range of opinions and it also helps to see that a lot of people actually agree with each other, these questions will help us when creating and filming our opening sequence as we can look back to see what the viewers like and would prefer to see. This is important as this opening sequence will be watched by the viewers and they will chose whether or not they like it and by us looking at their opinions we can then do all that we can to try and make this opening sequence as more pleasurable watch.

These four graphs show that the majority of people would like our opening sequence filmed in a basement/cellar/boiler room at late night in the dark and with either simple sound effects or natural sounds playing in the background. We can tell this because from the question about where the best location would be, the basement/cellar/boiler room was the most favoured choice with 6 people ticking it. Then from the second question that was asking about the best time of day to film in the most popular answer was late night with 7 people picking that answer. In reply to the third question, which was concerning the lighting of the clip, a huge majority of the 10 who answered the questionnaire chose that it would be better to film the opening sequence in the dark. The reason it was a huge majority was because 9 out of 10 people chose it. The last question of our audience questionnaire was an open question that was How could we improve our opening sequence? This question generate quite alot of answers, some which were pretty much the same and some were different. One answer that really surprised us was that someone said how they didnt think it could be improved. Below is a list of all 10 responses to the final question:

Too original, mix it up A bit of a clich Have the girl tied up Cannot find an improvement Take away some cutaways Cut to black after the girl disappears Girl kills the dad The dates on the CCTV should read 666 not zero Looks too much like Grudge, change the girls appearance Add in another character in the form of a priest or an exorcist

We will take all 10 of these possible improvements into consideration and we will deliberate whether or not they will work and improve our opening sequence at all.
