6.0 International Settings Issues 6.1 Regional Settings Date/Time Issues 6.2 Identical Date/Time Separators - All Windows Versions 7.0 Add-in reports 8.0 LifeScan Device Communications Framework (LDCF) 8.1 Sample XSL file 9.0 Internal Device Records 10.0 Changes in Default Values _____________________________________________________________________ ----------1.0 Reports ----------1.1 Load Time on Reports -----------------------If there is a large amount of data stored for a user, and the date range include s all of the data, then it may take a longer time to load information into the R eports. Tip: To load more quickly, try narrowing the date range. 1.2 Out of Memory Error ----------------------Occasional "out of memory" errors may be generated when running grid-formatted r eports, (for example, the Logbook Report or the Data List Report) with a large n umber of records. If you click on the arrows of the Scroll bar to scroll through the rows of records, this error message may come up. However if you use your mo use to drag the scroll bar through the rows, the error is not observed. 1.3 Tooltips on Charts ---------------------Certain reports that use graphical charts, the Glucose Trend Report for example, display the values of the data point that are to the immediate left of the mous e cursor when the cursor is placed on a line connecting two data points. This do es not occur If the mouse cursor is placed directly over the data point in the g raph. 1.4 Report Footnote ------------------The User's Manual includes a reference to the following footnote: "The dashed li nes that connect blood sugar readings in this graph do not reflect actual glucos e levels." However, in the software itself, the word "dashed" has been omitted. This is a known issue and will be addressed in a future revision of the manual. ----------------------------2.0 OneTouch Interface Cables ----------------------------2.1 Adding an Extension to the OneTouch Interface Cable ------------------------------------------------------If you need to add an extension to the OneTouch Interface Cable, be sure to add a standard serial extension cable to the pin side of the cable. (DO NOT add a ca ble to the stereo plug side).

2.2 USB Driver Installation --------------------------Please refer to the printed instructions that come with the OneTouch Interface C able. You can download the driver from www.lifescan.com. 2.3 USB Cable Surprise Removal -----------------------------If you are using the OneTouch USB cable for meter communications, do not unplug the meter while OneTouch Software is running. You should first exit the applicat ion and then remove the USB cable. ----------------------------3.0 Known or Potential Issues ----------------------------3.1 Laptop & Plug and Play Computers -----------------------------------Some laptops and some plug and play computers violate serial port communication standards. Most of these computers can be set to follow standard serial port set tings. In addition, some computers using power management software may disable t he port to conserve power. Please consult your manual or contact the manufacture r for the procedure. 3.2 Program Conflict -------------------If you have a problem (e.g. printing, communicating) with the OneTouch Software while other programs are running, close all the other programs and restart OneTo uch Software. 3.3 Microsoft Windows Service Packs ----------------------------------OneTouch Software requires current service packs from Microsoft. If your system does not have the minimum required service packs, you may experience abnormal be havior and should stop using OneTouch Software until the proper service packs ha ve been installed. 3.4 Archive/Retrieve/Export/Import Record Counts -----------------------------------------------When utilizing the Archive/Retrieve/Export/Import features for data originating from a OneTouch(R) UltraSmart(R) Meter, the record counts displayed may be diffe rent than the actual record count as stored in the meter. This is due to the way the records are grouped during the Archive/Retrieve/Export/Import operations. N o data is lost or altered from these operations. 3.5 Task Bar Interference ------------------------In some versions of Windows Operating Systems, the navigational buttons at the b ottom of the OneTouch Software window may be obscured by the Windows task bar wh en the screen resolution is set to 800 x 600. This may be resolved by hiding the taskbar, moving the window up, resizing the window manually or changing the scr een resolution. 3.6 Installing Drivers for New Meters/Device -------------------------------------------OneTouch Software has the ability to communicate with meters through Software Dr ivers. These are Drivers specifically designed to facilitate communications betw een various devices and OneTouch Software and are not to be confused with softwa re drivers for USB cable connectivity. These drivers will become available whene

ver a new LifeScan meter or a 3rd party device becomes available to consumers. B efore installing a new driver, you must close OneTouch Software and restart it a fter the driver is installed. 3.7 Rounding Errors when Units are Changed -----------------------------------------If the Unit of Measure is changed in the Preferences section from mg/dL to mmol/ L and then back to mg/dL, you may notice a +/- 1 mg/dL or +/- 0.1 mmol/L change in the Global Targets tab. These changes appear only in the user interface and d o not affect the stored values in the database unless the values have been chang ed by the user explicitly (i.e., by typing in a new value in the various Global Targets fields and saving them). 3.8 Autosearch Feature ---------------------The Autosearch feature may sometimes fail to detect a meter that is connected to the PC using the USB version of the OneTouch Interface Cable. If you experience any difficulty communicating with your meter when using the USB cable with the Autosearch feature enabled, you should uncheck this option in the Preferences an d enter the COM port number used by the USB cable driver. Please refer to Window s documentation for instructions on how to determine this port number. 3.9 Glucose Records Display/Print Order ---------------------------------------OneTouch Software recognizes the date and time of glucose results based on how t hey were tagged by the meter. In some cases, meter date and time may have been s et incorrectly by the user so that the calendar date sequence of results may not match the actual order that the tests were taken. In the Data List Report ("Since last transfer"), you have the option to display glucose results in the order that the tests were taken, rather than by calendar date. This feature is the default option in the software. Note that since this f eature is not available if you have transferred results from a OneTouch UltraSma rt Meter, You must uncheck this option in order to view or print the Data List r eport ("Since last transfer") for results transferred from a OneTouch UltraSmart Meter. To view and print Data List Reports in calendar date order, first un-check this option in the Report Options tab under Preferences and then select the "Since la st transfer" Date Range under Data List Reports. -----------------------4.0 Database Maintenance -----------------------Good database management requires keeping a backup copy of your current database . The OneTouch Software database file is named "OneTouch.MDB" and is located in the Program Files\LifeScan\OneTouch\Data folder. Note that the root folder (Prog ram Files) may vary if you specified a different folder during installation. To back up the OneTouch Software database, copy the "OneTouch.MDB" file to a secure location of your choice. To use this backup, copy the file back into the Progra m Files\LifeScan\OneTouch\Data folder. 4.1 Corrupted Database Repair ----------------------------Your OneTouch Software database could become corrupted as a result of a system c rash, exiting the OneTouch Software improperly, or a power outage occurring whil e the software is open. If this occurs, the next time you start OneTouch Softwar e, the software will attempt to repair the corrupted database. In the event of a failure to repair the database, the user is notified that the database is beyon

d repair. 4.2 Recovering from a Corrupted Database ---------------------------------------If your current database becomes corrupted and OneTouch Software is unable to re pair it, you can use a backup copy of the database to fix the problem. Note that depending on how frequently you backup the database file, you may lose some dat a. Performing frequent backups will minimize the amount of data loss should your database become corrupt. To restore a backup copy of the database, delete the c orrupted "OneTouch.MDB" file (only if you have a backup) and copy your backup fi le (renaming it "OneTouch.MDB" if necessary) to the Data Folder. 4.3 Starting a New Database --------------------------If you wish to create a new (blank) database: In the Program Files\LifeScan\OneTouch\Data folder, a "blank" new database calle d "OneTouch_blank.MDB" has been included. After eliminating your old "OneTouch.M DB" file (by deleting, renaming, or moving it to another location), copy the "On eTouch_blank.MDB" file, and then rename this copied -"blank" file to "OneTouch.M DB". Never delete or rename the original "OneTouch_Blank.MDB" file. Caution: Copying the "OneTouch_blank.MDB" to "OneTouch.MDB" will overwrite your existing OneTouch.MDB file. If you wish to keep a copy of the "old" database, be sure to make a backup copy or to rename it to something else. 4.4 Hard Disk Space ------------------Depending on your system, OneTouch Software may need up to 200 Megabytes of free disk space during installation. Note: After installation, be sure that there is at least 100 Megabytes of free d isk space to allow for reliable and fast operation. ------------5.0 Log Files ------------Log files are used to record key system activities during installation and opera tion of OneTouch Software. 5.1 Installation Log -------------------During installation, OneTouch Software creates a text file containing installati on information. This file is named "OT_InstallLog.txt" and is located in the Pro gram Files\LifeScan\OneTouch\LogFiles folder. Note that the root folder name may be different if OneTouch Software is installed in a different location. 5.2 Error Log ------------OneTouch Software keeps track of internal errors that may occur while in operati on. This file is named "OT_Errorlog.txt" and is located in the Program Files\Lif eScan\OneTouch\LogFiles folder. Note that the root folder name may be different if OneTouch Software is installed in a different location. Each time an internal error is encountered, detailed information about the error is added to this fil e without overwriting previous error information. 5.3 File Version Log -------------------OneTouch Software creates a text file containing information about versions of s

ome files found on the system both before and after the installation process. Th is file is named "OT_FileVersions.txt" and is located in the Program Files\LifeS can\OneTouch\LogFiles folder. Note that the root folder name may be different if OneTouch Software is installe d in a different location. --------------------------------6.0 International Settings Issues --------------------------------The information in this Readme file is designed to suggest a work around for som e of the problems running the OneTouch Software under Windows. 6.1 Regional Settings Date/Time Issues -------------------------------------Windows may fail to process dates correctly if the default time setting does not match the locale entries. This is a Windows behavior and not a problem with the OneTouch Software. 6.2 Identical Date/Time Separators - All Windows Versions --------------------------------------------------------If a period is used for both the date separator and the time separator, there wi ll be errors when running OneTouch Software. -----------------7.0 Add-in Reports -----------------OneTouch Software is able to generate more reports than included originally. The se reports, when available, are installed during the installation of drivers for new meters. When a new Add-in report is installed and detected by OneTouch Soft ware, the Reports menu will get updated to allow you to access these reports. --------------------------------------------------8.0 LifeScan Device Communications Framework (LDCF) --------------------------------------------------LifeScan produces a set of tools for developing and integrating support for othe r devices in OneTouch Software v2.3.2 or greater. This toolkit is intended for S oftware Developers and/or OEMs. Depending on the order in which the Toolkit and OneTouch Software are installed, you may experience some difficulties when runni ng the application. The best way to avoid this is to install the LDCF ToolKit on a different computer for developing a driver. 8.1 Sample XSL File ------------------LifeScan provides a sample XSL file (Add-in) report in the LDCF toolkit package. This file is intended only for reference purposes and has not been tested or ce rtified for use. The software developers are responsible for the verification an d validation of any Add-in report generated using the LDCF toolkit. --------------------------9.0 Internal Device Records --------------------------Some devices store certain events such as cal code changes in their internal mem ory. Because of this, when data is downloaded from such a device, the download s tatistics may reflect a number that is different than the number of glucose reco rds created in your device. These internal records are stored in the OneTouch So

ftware database but are not displayed in the standard reports. -----------------------------10.0 Changes in Default Values -----------------------------From time to time it becomes necessary to make changes to the default values use d in the program. When upgrading from an existing version of the software with d ifferent default values, or when retrieving from an earlier archive file, these changes in default values may result in slightly different software behavior. Fo r example, if the default post-meal target values were left according to the ori ginal defaults in an earlier version of the software, and you upgrade to a new v ersion of the program with a different set of default values, some data may be s hown as above or below target in the new version of OneTouch Software. However, if these default values were customized in the original database, they will be t ransferred to the new version of the software without change.
