1. Bosnia Peacekeeping. The British army were deployed to Bosnia to provide armed escort to Humanitarian aid convoys. The troops
operated in the volatile and dangerous area around Vitez.

2. Gibraltar 3. Cyprus - The British Army in Cyprus works to a tri-service headquarters and is tasked with protecting the SBAs and associated retained
sites. The Army presence includes two resident infantry battalions: the Joint Service Signals Unit at Ayios Nikolaos, 62 Cyprus Support Squadron Royal Engineers and 16 Flight Army Air Corps (equipped with Gazelle helicopters) at Dhekelia. There are also a variety of supporting arms such as the Royal Logistics Corps, Royal Army Medical Corps, Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, Royal Military Police and others located in both SBAs. British soldiers also serve with United Nations Forces in Cyprus. There is no operational link between British soldiers serving in the SBAs and the British contingent of the United Nations Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP).

4. Germany - British Forces are stationed in Germany for reasons of national and NATO security with the agreement and support of the
German government. The presence of British and American troops provides mutual security and is a visible display of the UK's support for its NATO allies. HQ UKSC (G) commands the only garrison west of the River Rhine, designated Rhine Garrison, which comprises mainly a signal brigade and logistic support units.

5. Georgia 6. Kosovo 7. Afghanistan - UK Forces are deployed to Afghanistan in support of the UN authorised, NATO led International Security Assistance
Force (ISAF) mission and as part of the US-led Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF). UK operations in Afghanistan are being conducted under the name Operation HERRICK. The UK force deploying to Afghanistan from October 2011 - April 2012 on Operation HERRICK 15 includes elements of the following Royal Navy, Royal Marines, British Army and Royal Air Force units. Our forces in Afghanistan are currently around 9,500 strong. The majority of this force is deployed in the south. In addition, the UK also provides service personnel in support of the Headquarters for the ISAF and for OEF, both of which are in Kabul.

8. Iraq 9. Brunei - The British army in Brunei comprises an Infantry Battalion and a Bell 212 Helicopter flight Army Air Corps. The Infantry
Battalion is supported by the small British Garrison, which provides all logistic and administrative support.

10. South Atlantic Islands - The Falkland Islands are a dependent territory of the UK and will remain so for as long as the Islanders wish
them to. British Armed Forces protect the Falkland Islands 'To Deter Military Aggression Against The South Atlantic Overseas Territories (SAOT)'.

11. Kenya - BATUK is a small permanent administrative element based on the outskirts of Nairobi and provides the logistic support to
visiting units. Under an agreement with the Kenyan Government, three infantry battalions per year carry out six-week exercises in Kenya. A Royal Engineer Squadron also deploys to Kenya over the same period to carry out a civil engineering project.

12. Canada - BATUS is equipped with in excess of 1000 vehicles including a full complement of Challenger 2 tanks and Warrior Infantry
Fighting Vehicles. Each year a Regiment is sent there for six months to take the part of the 'enemy' for the other Regiments that are there to train each year. The training area at BATUS is equivalent in size to the combined area all of the main training areas used by British Army in the UK and in Europe; Salisbury Plain Training Area would fit in 7 times over. 5 Battlegroups, each containing approx 1400 soldiers, are trained at BATUS each year.

13. Sierra Leone - While half the Battalion trained over 2,500 members of the Sierra Leone Army, the other half spread out into the
Jungle to protect the training bases. Patrols were completed round the clock both on foot and using Landrover WMIK Gunships armed with Heavy Machine Guns.

14. Northern Island - 38 (Irish) Brigade, based in Lisburn, is made up almost entirely of Territorial Army (TA) units and personnel. The
Brigade also provides the support network known as the Firm Base, for all Defence assets based in the Northern Ireland.
