WELCOME
Congratulations on purchasing Access Manager - the most popular data connectivity solution for wireless Internet access. This User's Guide will provide information needed to get started with Access Manager. For additional assistance with using Access Manager, the installation process and/or the setup process, launch Access Manager and select Access Manager Help from the Help menu.
Access Manager works with your Mac and data PC-Card, ExpressCard, wireless phone or USB modem to provide wireless Internet connectivity. Access Manager can also be used optionally to connect to Wi-Fi networks when available.
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
In order to set up Access Manager, you will need the following minimum system requirements: PowerMac G3 or newer Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later Supported wireless device PowerBook with PC Card slot (for use with PC Card) MacBook Pro with ExpressCard/34 slot (for use with ExpressCard) Built-in USB port (for use with wireless phone or USB modem) Built-in Bluetooth (for use with Bluetooth capable wireless phone) MOBI wireless data service
SETUP INSTRUCTIONS
After inserting the CD, the Access Manager window will appear. If the window does not automatically open, double-click the CD icon on your desktop. If you received Access Manager in electronic format, double-click the Access Manager disk image ("DMG"). To begin installation of Access Manager double-click the Access Manager icon to launch the installer and begin the setup process. Setting up Access Manager takes just a few minutes. It consists of the following steps: Step 1: Install Access Manager Step 2: Complete the Access Manager Setup Assistant. Step 3: Test your wireless device to verify it is working properly. That's it! Once set-up is completed, you can connect to the Internet immediately. Below are detailed steps that outline the Installation and Setup processes:
Setup Access Manager for PC Card, ExpressCard, or USB modem Launch Access Manager to begin the Setup Assistant. A Check for Updates button is provided in the first panel of the Setup Assistant. Click this button to check for updates to the Access Manager product. Click Continue to proceed with the setup process. 1. Select Your Hardware - This step allows you to select the hardware type to setup. Select the appropriate setting based on your hardware. Below is a brief description of these types. Once you have made the correct selection, click Continue to proceed. Detect WWAN device only - Select this option if you are using a PC Card, ExpressCard, or USB modem. Detect Airport adapter only - Select this option if you are using a built-in Apple supplied Airport card. Detect both Airport and WWAN Devices - Select this option if you have a combination of Airport and PC Card, ExpressCard, or USB modem.
2. Detect Device - During this step you will need to insert your PC Card, ExpressCard, or USB modem into your Mac's slot. Click Continue to proceed. 3. Communicating with your Device - During this step, the Access Manager will attempt to query your PC Card, ExpressCard, USB modem. Once complete, "Detection Successful" will be displayed. Click Continue to proceed 4. Setup Wireless Account - During this step Access Manager will setup an account on your machine for use with your wireless device. You will be prompted for an OS X Administrator username and password. Once the account has been created on your Mac the text "Account creation successful" will be displayed. Click Continue to proceed. 5. Setup Wireless Account Complete - This step in the setup process is to acknowledge that your wireless account setup is complete. A Test Wireless Device button has been provided to allow you to verify that Access Manager can communicate with your device. Clicking this button will display a window that displays information about your wireless device. Click Continue to proceed. 6. Setup Complete - The setup process for Access Manager is now complete. Click the Close button to exit the Setup Assistant and begin using Access Manager
1. Important: Once your account is set up on the MOBI website, please click the "Quit" button to ensure your account is set up properly. If you wish to begin using the service please wait approximately 10 minutes for the account to be validated, then click "Connect" again (or simply double-click the network name). 2. To purchase additional connectivity, click the "Get Access" button. You will be returned to the MOBI activation site. Please consult the Access Manager Help for detailed information on the features of the Access Manager product. Select Access Manager Help from the Help menu.
