What is it? Abstract provided through Nesstar WebRetrieval System Financial Performance Indicators for Canadian Business is an authoritative reference source of key financial ratios by industry. It is based on up-to-date, reliable and comprehensive data on Canadian businesses, derived from Statistics Canada databases of financial statements.The indicators are designed to serve as financial performance benchmarks against which individual firms and industries can be compared. It allows firms to precisely position themselves, within their peer group. Volumes 1 and 2: Financial performance indicators area series of 15 commonly used financial ratios. In table 1, the financial ratios are classified into three categories, profitability, solvency and efficiency ratios. The table also indicates the portion of the firms in each industry that experienced profits as opposed to losses. Table 2 sets out a common-sized balance sheet which provides a structural analysis of the balance sheet. Volumes 1 and 2 are available at the national level. Volume 3: Six principal financial ratios, net profit margin, pretax profit margin, gross profit margin, pretax profits to assets, return on equity and liabilities to assets, are presented in volume 3. It also contains year over year sales growth rates for the two most current years and the percentage of all firms that experienced profits as opposed to losses. Volume 3 is available at both the national and provincial levels.
