LIFE’S GOAL

In all my travels around this world there is one thing that has become a very real truth to me. Everyone
wants and desires a purpose in life. It does not matter what condition in life you were born into, there is an
inherent yearning from within you to be all that you can be. How did we get it? I believe it was imparted into
mankind when God breathed life into us and made us a living being. It is part of God’s spiritual DNA
imparted into man’s spirit.

Gen 1:26-28
Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the
fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing
that creeps on the earth." 27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him;
male and female He created them. 28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful and
multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and
over every living thing that moves on the earth."

So the question is not do we have purpose, but has our purpose developed and has it been nurtured to
the point of producing good fruit or bad fruit. One only has to read the daily newspaper to see how
many people have used their purpose driven desire to do many evil deeds. However, believers in Christ
are not without guidance and direction for their purpose in life. The Bible leads us to the path of
purpose, however it is a personal decision as to whether we will follow that path or not.

THE SEVEN STEPS TO FINDING PURPOSE:

1. OUR CONFORMITY TO CHRIST - GLORIFY GOD RATHER THAN

OURSELVES.
Rom 12:1-2
I urge you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice,
acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but
be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good
and acceptable and perfect. NASB

John 15:1-8
"I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. 2 Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes
away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. 3 You are already clean
because of the word which I have spoken to you. 4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear
fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. 5 "I am the vine, you are
the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. 6 If
anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw
them into the fire, and they are burned. 7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what
you desire, and it shall be done for you. 8 By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you
will be My disciples.
2. OBTAIN GOD’S VISION FOR YOUR LIFE.
God has a vision for you. Have you ask Him to tell you His vision for your life?
Hab 2:2-4
Then the LORD answered me and said: "Write the vision And make it plain on tablets, That he may run who
reads it. 3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie.
Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry. 4 "Behold the proud, His soul is
not upright in him; But the just shall live by his faith.

Habakkuk asked for a vision. How do we know? He said, “then the God answered me.” Now may be the
appointed time for your vision. Have you asked?

3. CHECK OUR ATTITUDE.

What proceeds from our mouth tells us much about the condition of our attitude.

Phil 4:4-9
Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord
is at hand. 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let
your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard
your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things
are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are
of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy — meditate on these things. 9 The
things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with
you.

4. CHECK OUR CONDUCT.

What our mouth does not tell us, our conduct will.
1 Cor 11:1
Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ.
Phil 4:9
The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will
be with you.
Eph 5:1-2
Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. 2 And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given
Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.

5. ESTABLISH BOLDNESS – BE BOLD AND HUMBLE

Phil 2:5-11
Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it
robbery to be equal with God, 7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and
coming in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became
obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. 9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and
given Him the name which is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those
in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that
Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Josh 1:9
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the
LORD your God is with you wherever you go."

6. THE WORLD IS WATCHING – BE A WITNESS.

Acts 4:13
Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained
men, they marveled. And they realized that they had been with Jesus.
Ps 1:1-3
Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners,
Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; 2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates
day and night. 3 He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season,
Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.
7. KNOW YOUR POSSIBILITIES

Matt 19:26
But Jesus looked at them and said to them, "With men this is impossible, but with God all things are
possible."
John 15:12-17
This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than
this, than to lay down one's life for his friends. 14 You are My friends if you do whatever I command you. 15
No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you
friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you. 16 You did not choose Me,
but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain,
that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you. 17 These things I command you, that you
love one another.
Acts 1:7-8
And He said to them, "It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own
authority. 8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be
witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."

My friends, God not only gives us dreams for purpose, but He will equip us to bring that purpose to
pass.

Love and blessings to all,

In His Service,

Dr. Rod and Maggie
