Eye Massage : Accupressure for Eye Treatment

Eye massage : The areas around the eyes are massaged gently to increase the blood circulation in this area.

Diet : According to the Ancient Ayurvedic Science, diet is responsible for one's well being and health. A proper diet is of vital importance for healthy eyes. 'Netradwayan' - the ancient book of Ayurveda about eyes, explains that the eyes and stomach are related what you eat has a direct effect on the eyes, also a clean digestive system improves vision. Sampoorn Eyeyoga suggests a diet which is good not only for the eyes but for the total health. For healthy eyes include the following in your diet 1. Greens like palak, methi, green pepper, celery, cabbage etc. 2. Orange fruits and vegetables like carrots, papaya, mango, pumpkin etc. 3. Sprouted wheat, moong, matki, masoor etc at least thrice a week. 4. Proteins rich diet like fish, chicken, milk, dals etc. 5. Good amount of vitamin C rich fruits like amla, guava, lime, oranges etc are important.

Laughter : According to Dr. W.H. Bates the eyes and mind are related. He says 'Quieter the mind, better is the eyesight', and what better way can there be to quieter the mind than by laughter. It has been researched that during deep laughter (belly laughter) our thoughts cease and the mind becomes still. At Sampoorn we have a Laughter meditation room where participants are encourages to laugh and then mediate. Laughter helps you to relax your body and mind. In the morning and before you go to sleep, laugh continuously for minimum 5 minutes. If you want to do it as meditation the whole body should participate in the laughter. It should be belly laughter. At the end of the laughing stage do palming for 5 minutes.

Preservation of good eyesight is almost impossible without proper eye education and mental relaxation. The quieter the mind better is the eyesight. To use your eyes correctly follow the following instruction:General hints for Eye Care Learn right blinking. Blinking is a quick method to give rest to the eyes. Also, blinking keeps the eye moist. Thelachrymal glands under the upper eyelid produce an antiseptic fluid that cleans the eyes. While reading blink once in every line. Keep your eyelids half closed, while reading or watching a distant object. Even while looking upwards the upper eyelids should not be raised but only the chin. Turn your head in the direction in which you are looking. Shift your glance constantly from one point to another. Sunlight is best source of light. However do not let the sunlight fall directly on the paper you are reading. While using electric light, see that the light comes from the back and falls on the paper. While reading Hold the book at a distance from where it is seen best. The book or newspaper should be held under the chin so that the eyes are half closed. Move your head from side to side while reading so that the word you are reading is directly under your nose. Mentally make a note of the fact that printed matter is black and the paper is white. Blink once in every line. Read in proper light. Do not lie down and read. Also do not read in moving vehicles.

While writing While writing keep your attention on the tip of the pen with which you are writing. Keep blinking normally. If you want to check what you have written then stops writing and hold the paper in your hands and read as per the above instruction. But do not go on writing and reading simultaneously.

While working with the computer See that the screen is below your eye level so that your eyelids are half closed. Have a comfortable distance between your eyes and the computer screen. Blink regularly and normally. Do palming for 5-10 minutes after working on the computer for 1 hour. Shift your glance from the computer screen to a distant object for 2 minutes (while blinking) after every 30-40 minutes. Have proper lighting in the room. See that your posture is comfortable and that you are not bending too much straining your neck and back muscles.

While watching television Sit at a comfortable distance from the T. V. The T . V. Screen should be below your eye level. Do not lie on the stomach and watch T.V. Blink frequently and normally. Do palming for 5 to 10 minutes after watching T.V. For 1 hour. Shift your glance from the T.V. screen to a distant object for 2 minutes after every 30-40 minutes. Have a proper lighting in the room.
