To Whom It May Concern: It is my pleasure to take this opportunity to serve as a reference for Trevor Mickelson.

Because Trevor served as a student teacher with me here at Waukee H. S. over the course of the spring semester in 2012, I've come to know him very well and feel very qualified to share my insights. Trevor is an instructor of great substance who possesses a number of notable virtues on both a personal and professional level. His integrity and character are clear matters of distinction. The students of Waukee High School know Mr. Mickelson as a fair, hardworking instructor who genuinely cares not only about his subject, but also about his students. In making himself available to students for extra help, Trevor has gone above and beyond. His students are aware that they will have plenty of opportunity for additional help if they simply request it. His love for the craft of teaching and history in particular is evident. His students appreciate that he not only enjoys teaching, but also takes it quite seriously. Trevor has been a true asset to Waukee High School in a variety of ways. Trevor was delegated a tremendous amount of responsibility in the areas of preparation, planning, and various paperwork activities, and worked to accomplish these tasks in an exceptionally consistent, timely manner. I believed I could trust him with these responsibilities because of his consistently dependable approach. When he was asked to accomplish a task, he dealt with the assignment diligently and immediately. Additionally, Trevor has been a teacher on the cutting edge of teaching strategies, incorporating various instructional techniques in his lessons, which have allowed for interesting, informative lessons. He has not been afraid to push his boundaries, and continues to try various approaches throughout his tenure with me. Trevor Mickelson has demonstrated himself to be an exceptional teacher that any school district would be fortunate to employ. As an instructor, he shows maturity and potential for greatness beyond his years. His lesson plans demonstrate contentious planning, but also creativity and the willingness to take risks. His attention to detail and dedication to excellence are clear, and his clarity of purpose is evident. For these reasons, I strongly believe that Trevor will have tremendous success in whatever endeavor he should encounter. He is a resourceful young man, and will make a fine representative of whatever institution he becomes a part of; that is why I am happy to recommend him not only as a great candidate for any teaching position, but also as a tremendous person. Sincerely,

Scott Carlson American History Instructor Waukee High School 555 E. University Waukee, IA 50263 515-987-5163 x 2408
