EASTRASBUDRANBLOCK

Stratigraphy: The sedimentary sequence ranging in age from Paleozoic to Recent,

with several non-depositional/erosional hiatus. Presence of igneous intrusive areSignificant in the stratigraphic sequence of the area

SourceRocks:Multi source rock units, mainly associated with Thebes and

Brown limestone formations.

Reservoirs: - Kareem and Rudeis sands of Miocene.

- The Pre- Miocene porosities.

PlayTypes: - Pre-Miocene horst blocks.

- Miocene stratigraphic plays.

Notice:the data show that the failure of drilled wells in the area due to offstructural well locations.

EE857well: the target was RahaFm (Cenomanian "Late Cretaceous") and Nubia
sandstone. A massive igneous body was entered at -9691 ft above top Thebes in probable fault contact. A major fault was crossed at -11125 ft which cut out the entire Pre-Senonian Cretaceous section and the Paleozoic, so they were missed and no zones of interest were noted.

EE859well:the prospective reservoirs are Matulla, Raha and Nubian.

A geologic modeling had suggested the presence of a large postulated Pre-Miocene high block on the well location. Since the well was nearly 2500 ft low to prognosis on top Pre-Miocene, all prospective reservoirs may be expected to be below the Ras Budran OWC (at 12350 ft).The postulated Pre-Miocene high block did not exist and the geologic model on which well location was based has been proved to be incorrect.
