INTERCESSION

Gift or anointing? Nehemiah Burdened, prayed, interceded for Jerusalem. Jeremiah Anointed prophet, chosen, given revelation. Daniel Anointed or by revelation, something stirred his heart when he read the scriptures about Moses and Abraham his heart was stirred because he had a love for Israel, even though he was prospering and had everything going for him while in captivity. He became unsatisfied with the state of his people. Ezekiel: God was looking for a man to stand in the gap. Isaiah: chosen, given revelation, anointing. 1) Are Intercessors chosen and called to the job? 2) What is in the heart of the intercessor that God recognizes and seeks after? (See: Ps.34:18, 51:17, 138:6, Is.57:15, 66:2b) Moses: Intercessor> Ex. 32:9-14, 30-34, 33:12-23. Jesus: of course was the greatest intercessor paying the full price for the state of the world. Coming between man and God for the sake of the Kingdom and for the future of man, that we would not be separated from His love. The action of love plays a powerful role in the heart of the intercessor. For God SO LOVED THE WORLD that he sent Jesus to intervene. Intercessor/standing in the Gap or Breach. Filling in a hole. A covering for a split, rift, opening. Taking up of the offence, transgression, or trespass of another. Paul/ Prayer Intercession 1Tim.2:1 Isa.53:12 Jesus Ezek.22:30 Gap, the Lord looked for a man Ps.106:23 about Moses (Ex.32:11-13 stood in the breach) Real intercession is working together with God for the actuation of the prophetic word. It is knowing what is on Gods heart and standing in the gap for the situation, people or nations. Standing in for the mercy of God to come. Reminding God of the prophetic word spoken. Prophecies concerning Israel and end times. -about the church, the bride, the body -unity, strength, power, acting as one person Jesus -that we would know and understand the things of the Spirit. Prayer is different Luke 18:6-8 Requesting and not giving up. (Ps. 20:5/Phil.4-6) Petitioning for needs and wants that you may not know the specifics about. What Spiritual gifts will help in intercession? Prophetic

Discernment Knowledge Wisdom Tongues Faith Intercession is life giving, total death to self. This means a cost, wanting for the heart of God. Waiting upon him, can mean a watchman day and night, crying out for his intervention. Understanding that you might make the difference between life or death, good or evil in the lives of others. God goes about looking for those who will stand in the gap. Prayer is burden then release. The burden may hit you suddenly, simply by looking at someone, or watching the news on the TV, or in the middle of the night. You enter into your prayer communication as Holy Spirit leads you about the situation and stay there until you sense its enough, its done. For God so loves that he sends us. 3) Gift or anointing? 4) Chosen for a specific job? 5) Why intercession? 6) What are differences, prayer/intercession? 7) Why does God require us and what are the reasons for standing in the gap? Acts 4:32, Phil. 2:2

12) Spiritual gifts ? 1Cor. 12: 1-14, do not be ignorant! Vs4> different gifts same Spirit, Vs7-12> manifestation of the Spirit given for the common good. All are the work of one Spirit. Vs12> the body is a unit. 1 Cor. 14:12 gifts that build up the church. 13) Intercession is a lifestyle. What does this mean? What should it look like? As we continue this will be revealed. 14) Differences? Prayer/intercession. How? Examples.

PREPARING FOR INTERCESSION Prayer is one of the greatest weapons in the Christians armament; but its the least used. Why? Partly because weve been greatly deceived, and the church has been kept in the dark about what prayer can accomplish. Doctrines have been written by past scholars, disqualifying prayer and purpose, replacing intimacy with a caring God and opposing the infilling and working of Holy Spirit; believing instead that there is no power present for the believers life. The tactic of the enemy: do not pray/intercede, be oblivious, and be passive. God is willing to meet with us, his beloved, and exercise his will through us, if we will focus ourselves on him. He desires mere men and women to fulfill his ordained purposes. The way we meet this need is to give ourselves wholly to him. This means relationship, no longer simply knowing about God, but knowing him. We need to step outside our personal understanding, our personal doctrines even, and embrace all that he is. Getting to know him, better, and ourselves, will help bring us into a fuller, richer and more effective prayer life. (This will require an exercising of our faith and a stretching of the things we think we know.) Not because we have reached some new plateau in our learning or our spiritual experience, but because we have willingly laid ourselves aside. This means complete abandonment of our personal prejudices, jealousy, pride, soulish and what we think are spiritual judgements, condemnations, complaining, grumbling, and everything else that is against Holy Spirit who indwells us. This means all selfish ambitions and dying daily to self and all that self demonstrates and ready to die for the sake of Christ. We must become more like Jesus, modeling after him. The only one, who can teach us to pray effectively, is God himself. The only way he can teach us all we need to know is by our time spent with him. This does not mean time spent, just with our many words.Knowing someone means, spending time with him or her. He desires to be known by us and can be. We must spend time in his presence, not just in our closet time, but we can make ourselves God presence oriented. We can will ourselves to walk this way. This is real spirit walking. Imagine if the church would focus being spirit walkers. We would overwhelm the world with God likenesses; and so we shall. Here is where we can respond with attitudes that pick-up on and reflect Gods mandate. Prov. 8: 17, Jer. 29: 13 So this means, how we then live, reflects on how we pray. The same is also true, that how we pray is a reflection of how we live. We need to be conscious of how we are living. We need to discipline ourselves, having complete honesty with God. He knows all our ways anyway. But at the same time, we need to discuss what is in our heart with him. Our reflective nature to others must be true also, and this requires humility. God does not want a non-personalized robot; that is not how he created us. He desires to enhance our personalities with his fullness and gifting and he desires our choosing and activating our wills in accordance with his. His will, will fill our minds and our thoughts and his thoughts will become one. This will not happen overnight. The more we know him, the freer we are to represent him and do his actions or follow through with his plans. For his perfect will to be done on earth, we must spend time with him in heaven right now. We can do that because we have access to him through Holy Spirit. We become the vessels prepared for his holy presence, to

carry his anointing. This access has requirements, as it did the Levitical priests. You could not be a priest and have scabs or open wounds. What are open wounds to us? Areas of our life weve been wounded in. (This will be different for each of us.) The cross, and blood of Jesus must filter everything that happens to us, so we are free from uncleanness that might infect our praying. We come through and under the blood of Jesus and have access to him. God has ordained that we be in Christ Jesus, our lives being hid with Christ in God (Col.3:3) We have availability to all that Christ is. We have an inheritance that needs to be claimed in faith, with humility. Satan does not want us to have this knowledge and does everything he can to keep us from gaining these truths. He hates our love for God, others and unity in the Spirit. Satanists pray against the church: 1) that the church wont pray or fast (2) that pastors, ministries, missionaries fail. (3) that Christians become complacent, wanting only for peace, and ignoring the gospel (4) that the gifts and the power of Holy Spirit be ignored. Perhaps we need to take a microscopic look at ourselves, to see if Satan has been using anything against us to keep us under his thumb. There are spiritual laws that govern his access to us, and we are the ones (most of the time) who give him permission to gain a foothold in our lives. Example: unforgiveness, pride, characteristics of the unregenerate nature and so on. These are simply a few areas that can allow him to defeat our prayer life. Our abandonment to the infilling of Holy Spirit and a better understanding of the armor of God will help us to stand strong. (see Eph. 6) We win or loose by what we allow to have residence in our minds. The thoughts we embrace and the mindsets we acquire are what control the larger part of our thinking. Until we become so God ordered and Spirit filled we may find ourselves fumbling and stumbling aimlessly about and will make little or no contribution to the Kingdom of God and we may actually find that weve been assisting the enemies desires. (Note: Im not suggesting that we aspire to become some spiritual Super Saint; it is the contrite heart and lowly in spirit that gains the attention of God. Humility before him and the attitudes of Christ are what we seek after. Is. 57:15) We must make a conscious decision not to allow our minds to be controlled by fleshly desires, soulish or devilish propaganda. (We may have accepted some church doctrine as absolute truth and this may hinder Holy Spirits working in us and through us effectively. See Peters vision Acts 10.) Also by not allowing our minds to slump into an euphoric haze that accepts any voice or outside influence it hears. Remember that Satan has the power to deceive, by making things appear to be right. He has captured many sensitive people and used that very thing to overcome their thought life, by making them think that they are some special chosen prophet, evangelist, prayer warrior, priest etc. The weapon he uses in most of these cases is pride of self and selfcenteredness that control their thinking. These people often become some of the hardest to reach because they become unsubmissive, unteachable, and they elevate themselves above everyone else. Be aware of this deception and trap and ask God for discernment for this in others so you dont fall under their influence. Paul describes the renewed mind (Rom.12.2) not a new mind, but your mind being renewed by the power of Holy Spirit and him only. This is a process necessary for us to recognize what God is doing in and through us. We will actually see and feel the difference.

The powerful action of the shed blood of Jesus is a weapon God has devised to assist us in having the ability to rest (which means relax, trust, be secure) in Holy Spirits work within us. He helps keep our thoughts on things pure, holy, true to God and in balance. Our praying should be coming through our spirit connected to Holy Spirit connected to Jesus connected to God. Then we will be praying effective powerful prayers that originate in God. If they are not connected this way, then where are these prayers coming from? They can originate in our minds by way of judgement, hurt, unbelief, wounds, soulish, works, you can fill in the rest. (See Jn. 17 Jesus high priestly prayer) We need to be free to look within ourselves and allow Holy Spirit to examine us under his microscope, letting him tell us about the light that is within us. If we are a wounded person having a wounded spirit, then the prayers we pray may cause us to be less effective until there has been a greater measure of healing in us. We must try to keep ourselves as free from impurities, sickness and disease that gain access through the soul. These things can attach themselves to us and suck the life out of us. Many Christians get stuck in limbo and live out their lives without effect because their souls take control of their lives instead of Holy Spirit. Our goal is to come into a fuller sense of Holy Spirit living in us and His ability to use us to accomplish Gods will through our prayers/intercession, as Holy Spirit lives out Gods desires in us. 1) Woundedness. Be willing to be healed. 2) Know your mind and heart. 3) Does your righteousness exceed that of the Pharisees? 4) How much cleansing do we need? Daily, monthly, yearly. Continuously? 5) Jesus prayer, Jn. 17. How does this happen and whose responsibility is it? QUERY (These pages are from The Handbook for each article) Preparing Others to Pray God is not looking for experts, but obedient servants (friends),trusting Him with our weaknesses. People willing to partner with him. The laws of prayer work, whether you are seasoned or novice. The level of experience is different, like flying. 1) Key word: FOCUS> lenses bringing things into sharp view. 2) concentration/clarity/center of interest /convergence. Noun/center of attraction meeting place/target. Personal choice what we focus on. 3) Not striving; waiting = desire = lusting for His presence, consumed 4) with His greatness, passion. (Book, Mike Bickle, Passion for Jesus) 5) Relationship> We are connected by blood = relative, the shed blood of Jesus makes us family. Heirs of Abraham, of the promise. 6) What are personal Doctrines? A belief taught through church or school, or person. It is an opinion. (also judgement) They could be an inherited superstition, heresy, religious dogma, mother/father always believed such and such. Where did your prayer experience come from? 7) Knowing someone. Many words: example; having a colleague that you have only spoken with by phone, you may think you know them, but go away on a weekend and live with them, your eyes may be opened, as you see who they really are. 8) Discipline is not striving, but can it become such? 9) We want training that produces orderliness, obedience, self control, and Godliness. Phil. 4:8 Think on these things. Gal. & Eph. Not worldly thinking.

10)Our Heart> The good, the bad, the indifferent. Dont try to be a copycat, be who God intended you to be. Did you know that Satanists pray against the church? Afflicting through curses, sickness, mental illness, temptation etc. Part 2 1) How do things gain residence? We simply let them in. Familiar sin that doesnt get dealt with affects our praying. 2) What are MIND-SETS? WORDS = MIND: thinking or intellectual faculties, memory, intention, attention, sanity. (influenced by others) whatever the intellect accepts gains the attention. SET: To put or place in specific position, or condition, a fixed point, become firm, established, have direction, unvarying, action, state of being set, posture. Attitude = we choose the attitudes we want in prayer by what we listen to in our mind and reason in our heart. 3) MIND: Why doesnt God give us a brain transplant? Many of us wish this. 4) Jn17, Prayer for oneness. Do you accept this as possible? Praying at the point where you are so mingled together with Jesus that the Father can not tell the difference. 5) The SOUL: All that pertains to man, whatever is included in this life, strength, power, choice, thought, opinion, love, feelings pertain to the soul. We inherit this life at birth. All that our life posses and will become are in the realm of the soul. There is this need then to recognize what is soulical, to make it easier for us to know what is spiritual. The spiritual can be divided from the soulish. Also, the spirit is to rise above the soul, so that you are not praying for the things you want to see happen in others. Witchcraft praying are acts from the flesh. Gal. 5:20. We sin by making choices through influences in the soul. Our soul represents who we are. Before salvation we were controlled by the soulish life, either over the mind through emotion or mind over the soul through acts of reason or intellect. Holy Spirit made appeal to our spirit, to turn from the soulish life and enter the spiritual. He does not appeal to our emotion (soul) or our reason (mind), although we make a choice to believe with our mind, and we may encounter emotion at conversion. Suddenly our spirit is given life and our mind needs to enter renewal, as our intellect begins to accept the things of God, and then our soul (person/who we are) rejoices in God. Many times throughout the Psalms David speaks of how his soul rejoices in God. Our personalities, when Spirit influenced, result in our soul (person) becoming more Christ like. Soulish prayer will put a ceiling on your praying. Here is the need for discernment. We want Spirit influenced prayer that overcomes our soul and comes through our renewed mind, where we will make good decisions exercised in our spirit now connected to God with faith. Our soul is not inactive but submissive, because our personality is represented through the soul = who we are. But, we are constantly being renewed, sanctified. This renewal process is based upon our co-operation with Holy Spirit. From Glory to Glory to Glory to Glory...

PRAYER IS RELATIONSHIP Is prayer the LAST resort of the weak or the FIRST resort of the strong?
Relationship is really the key component. God desires relationship. He has initiated this idea and has responded by including his Spirit, mingled together with ours. We cannot enter this relationship with our minds. God is Spirit and when we try to come to him with our minds alone, our minds will always fight us. Our spirit must be in line with his and we know that only happens after we come to know Jesus. See; John 14:15-21 & 26, 16:8-11,13-15. Renewing Process What do I mean by, our minds will fight us? This simply means that the mind is too finite to grasp the things of God. Because God is eternal and lives and moves and has his being in the spirit realm as well as the natural realm, how could we ever comprehend him? The only solution was for God to help us and he has by way of Holy Spirit coming into our lives and engaging with our human spirit. Suddenly our spirit gets a heavenly charge of life. He joined himself with us so we can have our understanding enlarged and can know the things of God. The relationship that God wants will then lead us to intimacy. This is the restoration of the life that Adam knew before the fall or before sin entered creation. So how do we achieve intimacy with the creator of all things? The word of God says, That while we were yet sinners Christ died for us. What does that have to do with anything? Jesus has restored the fallen world for this very purpose. That man might have reconciliation with God. So what does this have to do with intercession? Everything! God calls the intercessor into a deeper and closer walk with himself, so he can share his heart with them and they can pray his heart into reality. Why doesnt God just speak it into being like he did in creation? He desires to have fellowship with us his created ones, thats why! He needs us and we need him. God has made us to be a spiritual man for this purpose. There is no performance on our part that will achieve this for the intercessor. God has approved of us; he acknowledges our weakness and has made provision in Christ Jesus for all our needs. We have arrived by the grace of God. We must stop striving and performing in order to get more of his approval. This will never lead to the fullness he desires for us in Christ. The only one who can accomplish bringing us into the place of relationship, into intimacy, will be God himself. See, Eph.2 Prayer Vehicle If we truly love God to our fullest, then it becomes easy to do those things that please him. Prayer, our communication vehicle or our conversation tool, pleases him. Prayer was not intended to be a tedious, boring, repetitious, garbled abstract of nonsense or empty words. Prayer was never designed as a chore, involving a lengthy recital of pious words. When Holy Spirit fills our lives and is allowed to have his way in us and through us he will lead us into deep intimate times that will extend beyond our human comprehension and bring heaven right down into our midst. This type of intercession and communication Jesus knew and experienced can be ours. Ps.145, Pr.15:8b, & 29b, Is.66:1, 2. God has willed it to be so and he will do all he can to assist us, if we will come humbly before him and seek his face. What does seeking his face mean? It means coming closer and closer to him, face-to-face, able to look into his eyes. The seeking of his face will be distinct, because of our personal differences, but the end result will be a closer meeting with God, our heavenly Father. 1Chron.16:10,11, 2Chron.7:14, Ps.27:8, 105:4, Jer.29:13. Personal Conflict

There may be individual conflicts that cause problems for us with this intimacy and communication. How we perceive ourselves will greatly affect our time spent with him. God s word says, That we are in Christ, we are forgiven, that we belong to him and are called his children This is Gods truth to us, written for us to have faith in and as a reminder of what he has done on our account. Then why are we so distracted from arriving at this place? What are the hindrances? Proverbs says as a man thinks, so is he A very large part comes from our unbelief. We are distracted by not believing in the provisions of God and assume that there are other special requirements we must fulfill in order to have right standing with him. This is a lie that comes from Satan to weaken and destroy our faith. Sometimes we find it easy to believe and accept the thought that we are too unworthy and have no right to stand before God. We think we need some sort of formal ritual or some mind and body whipping. If the above mentioned is prevalent in our thinking, then we are not believing the truth that God has given to us. We also do not trust Holy Spirit to bring us into the place of prayer that has been prepared for us. If we do not trust, have faith in what God has given us, then we will not have a continuance of release in prayer/intercession, or the experience of intimacy that he offers us. Rom.8:30 This does not mean that every prayer time will be perfect or a tremendous experience of grandeur either. What we need to comprehend is, God has accepted us, we are in the beloved, and we are friends of the most high God. We can expect him to touch us. Prayer is meant to be our involvement with God, through petitions, desires, expressing our needs or the needs of others. Prayer can be an expression of our love, expectations and praise. We want Gods will released from heaven as we pray. This release will set captives free, give sight to the blind, open the ears of the deaf and so on, the mandate of Jesus, the Fathers will being done. Understanding There remains some need for discipline on our part. We are not to enter this relationship with fleshly attitudes. There is the need for us to be able to overcome the fleshly weaknesses and find greater response from our spirit being touched by Holy Spirit. What we do with our mind is to surrender it to the Holy Spirit, listen to him so he can fill us with faith. We also discipline our minds by reading, meditating on and praying the word of God. We must not lean on our own understanding as Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us. Why not? Because we cannot trust what we think we know, we must trust what Holy Spirit expresses to us, as he brings us truth from God. Mind renewal is a process, the more of Gods truth that exists; the easier it is to think clearly. Purer and purer thought processing takes precedent. We are to think in the Spirit and with the mind. Action Prayer and intercession should be able to happen anywhere and at any time. It is the action of making ourselves available to hear from God, regardless of situations or circumstances. If we only pray when trouble arises or the circumstances become too great for us, then prayer has become an introspective selfish tool and our prayer life is one-sided. Prayer is not a feeling, not an emotion, not an attribute of our five senses. We may feel something or we may experience great emotion during times of prayer. Even our senses might be stirred during deeper times of prayer. Just because these things happen or dont happen, does not mean God hasnt touched us. We enter into prayer by faith, which is neither, an emotion, feeling or sense. The release of faith must accompany our prayer but that faith and

release comes from God. Faith may come through the written word of God, or it may come by spiritual revelation. Faith may come by a word of knowledge spoken or whispered into our ear by Holy Spirit. Faith may also come through the gift of tongues working in your life or from someone else. Our faith to believe in salvation came from who? Holy Spirit working in our heart and spirit. Our faith to believe does not come from some conjured up action on our part, it comes by way of Holy Spirit lifting our thoughts and spirits and enlarging the picture so we see more clearly. Sometimes Holy Spirit encourages us to use the gift of tongues along with our own understanding. When the gift of tongues is released in us it elevates and edifies our spirit, bringing us into a place of faith. Faith needs to arise so we can discern what is taking place as we pray and intercede. So let us be encouraged to ask God to enlarge our faith, so we can watch and experience what God can and will do through us in our prayers/intercession for His glory. (Capsule from Chart) The soul in its most refined form represents who we are. Our person / personality that makes up all our unique individuality. The soul's outside / inside influence is what develops our unregenerate man's character. Before salvation we were controlled by a soulish life (will) in one of two forms. Either soul controlling mind / body through the emotions or mind controlling body / soul via intellect or reason. The spirit is pushed down by mind and soul activities and in some cases extrememly wounded. These two systems within us are quite inter-changable due to many factors; tradition / culture / freedom in life or a deprived life from outside influences / restrictions / excesses etc.The spirit can rise and fall during these many influences. Holy Spirit comes to us and brings a message of conviction and appeals to ourheart to make a change in our living and turn toward God and away from the condemned world system under the influence of Satan. We then make a choice to accept or reject the things of God with our mind, which in some cases is extremely fearful. With acceptance comes a change in our hearts first, we receive a New Heart and our soul (person/will) rejoices in God. But our mind needs to go through arenewing process and as our spirit which has been subdued is given New life, there enters a warfare that we were unaware of within us. The soul / world influences can still have a strong hold upon us and the renewal process will take on different aspects determined by multitudes of factors within each of our lives. The unique thing within all of us as humans is the inner knowledge of right and wrong, regardless of nationality / culture / tradition because of God given DNA. This is the conscience at work within all mankind. Our personality when Holy Spirit influenced results in our soul / person / character becoming more Christ like as our New Heart and spirit take their proper God designed place. __________________________________________________________________________ Performance: things or an action we do and decide upon that we think pleases God. Mind: fighting us/reasoning versus intuitiveness touching our spirit/mind wants to reason/argue/spirit wants to accept the information coming through our intuitive nature being prompted by Holy Spirit/mind influenced by our soul = feelings, emotion, attitude The intellectual mind will always struggle with intuition believing it can not be trusted. (See article 6, for more explanation)

Questions: 1) Who initiated relationship? You or God? 2) How much of our performance gets us closer to God? 3) Name other hindrances to prayer/intercession? 4) Intimacy with God. What does this look like? Is it exclusive? 5) Why can prayer happen anytime, anywhere? 6) Do you believe because your mind says to believe or because your heart knows to believe? __________________________________________________________________ QUERY (Pages from The Handbook for Article 4) PRAYER IS RELATIONSHIP 1)Reminder (Relationship with father, Son and Holy Spirit) we understand the Father, Jesus but do we understand Holy Spirit? His relationship with our spirit? Relationship is really the key component. God desires relationship. He has initiated this idea and has responded by including his Spirit, mingled together with ours. We cannot enter this relationship with our minds. God is spirit and when we try to come to him with our minds, our minds will always fight us. Our spirit must be in line with his and we know that only happens after we come to know Jesus and Holy Spirit has entered our New Heart. Pg. 1 Renewing Process 2) Mind: Influenced by the soul, feelings, emotions. Reasoning vs. your intuitive nature, touching/speaking to your spirit. Mind wants to reason things out, argue. Your spirit wants to accept what information is coming intuitively prompted by Holy Spirit. Minds tendency is to be influenced by the soul, feelings and emotions, attitudes, outside of the body, surroundings, and atmosphere. What do I mean by, our minds will fight us? This simply means that the mind is too finite to grasp the things of God. Because God is eternal and lives and moves and has his being in the spirit realm as well as the natural realm, how could we ever comprehend him? This will look as different as your intimacy with your family vs. your friends vs. you and your wife.

4) Performance = Actions we decide or think we have to do to please God.

Performance often comes from a root of perfectionism.

5) Heart: Does the heart think? Article by Stephen Caeser. Re: Gen. 6:5
6) Intercession experience: can it be the same as Jesus? How much has your mind changed since you were born again? Have you renounced Phariseeism? How much healing might you still need? I experienced renewal in 1994, in my spirit man but my flesh man was still very active.

The seeking of his face will be distinct, because of our personal differences, but the end result will be a closer meeting with God, our heavenly Father. Pg. 2 7) Men and women are different, so our intimacy will differ. Different levels, as with mother, daughter, father, son, and also cultural differences. Good to remember when ministering in other countries. 1Chron.16:11, 2 Chron.7:14, Ps.24:5-7, 27:8, 105:4 8) Our thinking> Emulation syndromes, striving to equal or excel, eager to surpass others in our thinking and actions. (Hindrances) 9) Friendship with God? Yes/no? Is it exclusive? Moses/Abraham/ Ex.33:11, 2 Chron.20:7, James 2:23, 10) The Process: Do not beat yourself up, let God be God, His mercy endures forever. There are problems here for the people who use intellect only. Difficult to pray if you cannot think with the mind and the spirit. 1Cor.2:11, Job 32:8, Mark 2:8 Understanding There remains some need for discipline on our part. Mind renewal is a process, the more of Gods truth that exists; the easier it is to think clearly. Purer and purer thought processing takes precedent. We are to think in the Spirit and with the mind. This transpires because of our discipline, thinking like soldiers during warfare regardless of the situation or circumstance. Acts 16:25 Prayer and intercession should be able to happen anywhere and at any time. It is the action of making ourselves available to hear from God, regardless of situations or circumstances. Intercession is not about you! It is always about others. What do you do when your soul and body say,I dont want to pray right now, I dont feel like it, Im sick? Your spirit needs to rise up and be above the body, on top of soulish attitudes and arguments that will arise and also bringing the will into alignment. How? Training/learning/discernment/understanding and knowledge. Then activation. Who Trains us? Prayer is not a feeling, not an emotion, not an attribute of our five senses. We may feel something or we may experience great emotion during times of prayer. Even our senses might be stirred during deeper times of prayer. Just because these things happen or dont happen, does not mean God hasnt touched us. We enter into prayer by faith, which is neither, an emotion, feeling or sense. The release of faith must accompany our prayer but that faith and release comes from God. Faith may come through the written word of God, or it may come by spiritual revelation. Faith may come by a word of knowledge spoken our whispered into our ear

by Holy Spirit. Faith may also come through the gift of tongues working in your life or from someone else. Pg. 2 11) Prayer by faith, not feelings, emotions, senses. If we sit around waiting for a tickle we will miss what is going on in the spirit. Must learn how to rely on your spirit and how this process works within you. Sometimes Holy Spirit encourages us to use the gift of tongues along with our own understanding. When the gift of tongues is released in us it elevates and edifies our spirit, bringing us into a place of faith. Faith needs to arise so we can discern what is taking place as we pray and intercede. Pg. 3 12) Tongues: Tongues are a result of Holy Spirit within you, but they are subject to you just as spirit of prophecy is subject to the prophet. 1Cor.14:32 We can turn it on or off. vs:13> pray for interpretation 1Cor.14:2> his spirit (mans) is talking (How does our spirit know to do this?) 14:14> spirit prays, mind unfruitful (Whos spirit?) :15> 5 words, may instruct :4> edifies himself :6> without profit Tongues is a gift of who? Holy Spirit speaks in us with deep what? Rom.8:26, 27 (wordless groaning)

A LETHAL WEAPON IN THE HANDS OF GOD

A surrendered life in the hands of God becomes the lethal weapon. The Lord seeks intercessors, those that will stand in the gap. See: Nehemiah, Isaiah, Jeremiah and Ezekiel. Death to Self When we are willing to give up our life and die to all that is self, God will powerfully work through us. Giving your all to God means complete honesty, allowing God to have all the junk and imperfection, everything that makes you who you are and ever hope to be will be given over to him. God works through us by the amount of us we are able to surrender to him. For him to cause us to have a considerable effect then he must have a notable hold on or be in greater possession of our being, spirit, soul, mind and body. To love him with all our heart, mind, and strength suddenly becomes a deeper revelation. Pauls conversation about dying to self shines brighter. It doesnt make it any easier, except to say that Holy Spirit has promised to assist us in reaching this higher place in God. There is no other way that this type of lifestyle can be attained aside from his help. All God needs is ourwillingness to trust his love for us and to trust that same love and anointing that he desires to pour out of us. God seeks after those that will intercede. Why? Past revivals are great examples of how God loves to position us to ask of him the very thing he wants to bring into our midst, and yet he doesnt want us to stop there. God ordains spiritual events and finds willing servants to stand before him and have him move his hand. Its an extension of his love for us poured out and through the intercessor and back to him. He wants us to participate in his agenda. To know his heart and will for us and for others. So how does the intercessor reach this place in God? Firstly God has willed that we as mere incomplete humans should share in the glory of his creation and experience his closeness and intimacy. That we should become his friends and know his thoughts and plans for those he loves. We are thrust into a privilege and are commissioned to accomplish his will. How can his will be accomplished through the intercessor? We make ourselves willing to say, yes, I will die to self that you oh Lord may live through me in intercession, just as you are before the Father so let me be also.

This positions us into a place where God is able to fill our lives with himself and brings us to a place of intensified prayer, a place of identification, agony and authority. (From the book; The Intercessor, Reese Howels.) Did Jesus bring the disciples to this place, before or only after the resurrection when Holy Spirit had been released from heaven? What about the need for constant renewing and infilling of our spirits to remain in tune and on fire? Wouldnt you agree that the passion of Christ must be renewed and renewed so we can continue to carry the torch of intercession? Praying for and with others of like calling and faith helps here. Purification: A Process These truths to us may seem to be afar off. To be able to address God on behalf of others, to be able to stand in his presence and cry out and move his hand for them. To watch our prayer/intercession have great effect then we must move into a position where God can release us from ourselves and all that self inflicts against what his will is for us. For some the uncovering of self can mean dealing with things you would have sooner forgotten, but if there remains a root of anything contrary to the Spirit it needs to be exposed and cut off. For us to abide in the vine with Christ, the purity of Christ must purify us allowing the glory of God to flow out with fuller consistency in our anointing. Being purified can be an exhausting process, we must trust the Father and not fight him. Our imperfections are many, but his love is greater. His love for us covers a multitude of our sin and inconsistencies. Tensions Now is the time to be abiding in the vine and receive purpose, power and design. Holy Spirit cannot abide in power if we have two masters. There will always remain this tension of two worlds but Christ HAS overcome the world. (Jn.16:33) It becomes a daily exercise as Paul describes; dying to self that Christ may reign. Some have made this position so unattainable and so lofty that no mere person could ever get there. Thanks be to God that he simply desires our heart and willingness, and he helps us with the rest. Then he can do what he has promised through Holy Spirit, he has commissioned to indwell us. The mind of Christ can have completeness within us; this is Gods goal and intent for all. This will not happen overnight, it takes time to die to self. Our flesh really wants to live because it hurts to die. Choice The degree to which Holy Spirit reigns within us is up to us. Since God has given us free will, then we constantly will what we desire. He desires a complete and undivided heart totally surrendered but just the way we are. He through his enormous love for us completes the rest. When we let that love for an ungodly world bring about change in us first, then his glory can flow out of us in prayer and intercession through Holy Spirits direction. The flowing river of Gods love pours out from us. We must not let only a trickling stream surface. When the river is flowing there should be no resistance, no stagnancy, no dead water, instead life-giving flow. Here is where there is the need for self discernment or need for submission to peers. What are resisters to this flow? These are the damns of pleasure, selfishness, familiar sins, lack of self-control, all and everything that has to do with the flesh. (See: Gal.5) The greatest of these are pride, doubt and unbelief. These things pollute the discernment, block sensitivity, even stop or deflect Gods intervention. Gods Heart in Us For the intercessor to touch the brokenness of the world around us we need to be able to feel the heart of God.

God our Father has proven himself through Jesus to be an emotional person and that emotion will come through Holy Spirit within us. This will take on different aspects within each of us because of our individuality. Much of this depends upon the depth of what God calls each of us into. He calls us to participate in the full ministry of Jesus and Jesus himself saying, that we will do greater things. (Jn.14:12) Our part is to allow Holy Spirit to lead and guide us into the heart of God. (See; John 11:33-43, Matt.9:36,14:14, 15:32, Mk.1:41, 2Cor.1:3, Jms.5:11) Experiencing identification, agony and authority. There is difficulty in interceding for others where we have not worn the shoes of the one we are interceding for. But when we have been there or are given revelation through the Spirit so we feel, sense, are touched by their need then we have gained a greater position for our intercession to have effect and faith to be released to vanquish the burden. This type of intensified intercession becomes our quest. For God to use us to a fuller extent as if it were Jesus himself touching others and so it should be, because that is exactly what will be happening in us. There is authority in the pains that we have suffered allowing others to be set free because we have identification with them. Jesus, healing through the stripes/wounds he bore; authority to give life because he died, but more so because he was raised from the dead. (Is.53:5) AMBASSADORS: 2Cor.5: 20 We are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. How does an ambassador get his position? He is an accredited diplomatic agent of the highest rank, appointed as the representative of one government to another. A personal messenger. We are Gods earthly appointed representatives to make appeal to the world around us and to bring them all the fullness of the Godhead. This can only happen once we have grasped his word to us and allow Holy Spirit to live it out through us by faith. By faith in what? Us? No by faith in what God says he is willing to do through us. Then as the world looks upon us they no longer see us but Jesus. In this the actions of the intercessor is only one part of what God desires for his church. We want God to work freely and so as intercessors we need to be ever closer to his heart. The closer we are the less priming it takes from Holy Spirit to get the life giving water flowing. Keeping the renewing flame burning, and the streams of life flowing. How do we accomplish this? One of the ways is to be in contact with other intercessors, sharing prayer for and with one another. Waiting on the Lord as scripture encourages us so we will not become weary and faint. The Lord is inexhaustible, but we are not. We need to be comfortable with saying no and stopping to rest letting Jesus be the shepherd, who leads us beside still waters and to places that restore us. (Is.40:31, Ps.5:3, 27:14, 33:20, 37:7) Rest, Restore, Restoration Rest: a noun> inactivity, taking a breather, downtime, halt, holiday, let up, pause for peace, refresh, silent, stillness or motionless. Verb> be calm, to dream, recline, relax, unwind, be at ease, be still. To refresh oneself, wind down, pause. Opposite of being calm> agitation, anger, restlessness, terror, turbulent

What happens to you when there is turbulence in an airplane> panic. Restore: build up, cure, heal, improve, reconstruct, redeem, reestablish, refresh, rehabilitate, rescue, strengthen. Cleanse> absolve, purify, refine, also rinse, scour, sanitize (this can hurt) a restoration process. Enliven> cheer, excite, invigorate, quicken, stimulate, zap, juice up, recreate, wake up. Heal> fix, rebuild, resuscitate, soothe, make whole, make sound, breathe new life into. Invigorate> exhilarate, excite, rouse, stir, turn-on, liven up, vitalize, strengthen. Redress> adjust, make amends, put right, recalibrate, turn things around. _____________________________________________________________________ QUERY (Passages from Handbook) A Lethal Weapon 1) The Lord seeks> Ez. 22:30 before me Death to Self When we are willing to give up our life and die to all that is self, God will powerfully work through us. All God needs is our willingness to trust his love for us and to trust that same love and anointing that he desires to pour out of us. 2) When we are willing! We are not forced to do anything. This aspect affects our whole walk. 3) Intercessors, why? God seeks after those that will intercede. Why? Past revivals are great examples of how God loves to position us to ask of him the very thing he wants to bring into our midst, and yet he doesnt want us to stop there. God ordains spiritual events and finds willing servants to stand before him and have him move his hand. Tensions 4) Abiding in the vine. Connected to a true, choice, best, stock (Christ). We are grafted in. Fruit = time = wine, wine needs fermentation, a blending together of substance prepared by the wine master, (God & Holy Spirit). Not only individually but as a group also. Gods selection always the best. Jn.15 Being purified can be an exhausting process, we must trust the Father and not fight him. Our imperfections are many, but his love is greater. Since God has given us free will, then we constantly will what we desire. Example: fishermen, joggers, golfers, motorcyclists, computer games etc, activities that please us. Why? Because it is easier to will what we enjoy doing. Gods Heart in Us 6) Feeling the heart of God. Is God emotional? Jesus wept over Jerusalem. Jeremiah; the weeping prophet. For the intercessor to touch the brokenness of the world around us we need to be able to feel the heart of God. God our Father has proven himself through Jesus to be an emotional person and that emotion will come through Holy Spirit within us.

You can at times feel actual pain of those you are interceding for. Such as; pains in certain body parts, stomach, head, heaviness of heart, remorse with weeping and mourning. Ask questions as to why I am feeling this way Lord? 7) Authority: Release of power, Jesus wounded = our healing. (Is.53:3-12, 61:1-6) There is authority in the pains that we have suffered allowing others to be set free because we have identification with them. Jesus, healing through the stripes/wounds he bore; authority to give life because he died, but more so because he was raised from the dead. 8) Ambassadors: He is an accredited diplomatic agent of the highest rank, appointed as the representative of one government to another.
