Professional Practice

Film audience market

Our target market ideally is people of all ages. This is because of the visual entertainment for the younger generation, which is accompanied by the intricate inside jokes and themes, which older people can relate to.

Individual online presence

My personal online portfolio is the platform for work I have done for clients, personal projects and academic work such as this. This is my current online presence. http://originalbadguy.daportfolio.com/ This blog documents a section of the practical development process. http://mikiguardpooch.blogspot.com/

Examples of other animators marketing

Cartoon network program The regular show features an episode with two commercial rap artists Tyler the Creator and Childish Gambino as animations and rapping on the program. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O3NUph7AXvY

Marketing plans for Degree show

Promotional Film poster advertised in various places around the building. We will have an online viral advert, where members of the public use a catchphrase to promote out film. We may consider selling merchandise for dogs, which will be branded with our film. These may include collars, treats, leads etc.

File Sharing Procedures

We would exchange files via USB upon meetings. We were also always able to send files via email or facebook. File sharing was never a problem or difficulty.

Quality Control
This has had a very minor effect on our workflow. My background artist had been working in larger than average resolutions, to ensure they are only scaled down if need be, therefore no loss in quality.

Me as the main animator, I had been working in a resolution size that was smaller than the quality standard. However, I used drawing tools in Photoshop (pencil tool) starting very pixelated (making base colouring lightning fast), which actually becomes smoother upon resizing.

Employability improvement
To improve my opportunities I should create a personalized site with more abilities (Though I currently have a free online portfolio giving good examples) Join more online communities and showcase more work

Suitable Industry Contacts:

Claire Rolls Animator at Aardman animations LTD. Fraser MacLean Veteran animator currently teaching in Scotland. Shining Heroes An urban fashion design company I have worked closely with. They have a number of contacts within the media. This is good karma for one of their artists. Gregory N. Polletta, CEO at iGNITIATE.

Personal ability reflection

After working with my group and developing my skills throughout my three years here, I have identified my key skills, or confirmed them.

My strongest areas are:

Storyboarding I have developed a keen sense of cinematography through storyboarding. My skills with foreshortening have improved a great deal within this project. Life drawing in my previous years has helped my familiarity with forms and figures considerably. Animatics Learning more about After Effects, I have been able to produce animatics with adequate amounts of animation for the sake of clarity and story telling. Character Design I have been developing my skills with the help of my dissertation that involved character design. My character designs are having more purpose behind their aesthetics, which aids their functionality and cognitive appeal.

My previously strongest area:

Character design: This was my previously strongest area because it was my first interest as an artist. It is still one of my strongest areas.

My current strongest area:

Storyboarding: I get to demonstrate my creativity with cinematography and expression, as n expressive person I find it therapeutic. It is a lighter job compared to character design, I can put in equal amounts of effort, however in a shorter space of time. I have gathered that this means I would be suited to work in the industry as a storyboard artist for shorter projects. This includes storyboarding for adverts, trailers, cut-scenes etc.

Personal profile
Im an enthusiastic artist that loves to create characters and key motifs. Humour plays a big part of social society; looking on the Brightside and laughter being the best medicine. I am a team player and leader. An ENTJ, I like to have things in a linear order with the priorities in the right places. I thrive on good critique within a good atmosphere. As an all round creator it helps me constantly broaden my areas of interest and potential. As work or recreation I am developing my skills in character design,

voice acting, storyboarding, composing, and animation, hoping to produce my own original work in future.

Project Brief The aim of this project is to allow us to consolidate our practical and professional skills by applying them to the challenges of realizing a major collaborative animated project(s). In doing so, we will develop a portfolio of animation production work which will demonstrate the application of our skills for future employment. We are encouraged to specialize in a particular area of the animation pipeline (i.e. artistic direction, technical direction and animation direction) according to our career ambitions. Our group are creating a 2D animated film, with an original story about a smaller than average German Shepherd guard dog. He is the best companion of the laid-back security guard, and after too much relaxing and lazing around he needs to desperately pee and we follow him on his urgent journey to find a decent place to urinate. By the end of the unit, we will have realized a portfolio or showreel demonstrating the integration and consolidation of our learning on this course and evidencing the advanced development of our skills. Mission Ratings
I had been using what is called Traffic Lighting, to highlight the ranking of difficulty within the project. I had also used these colours, to identify progress. Ironically, I hadnt known this method had a

name while I was doing it. Example Artwork
