HYDROTEST PROCEDURES

Job Safety Analysis (JSA) will be prepared for Clients approval and the approved JSA; outlining anticipated risks and safety precautions shall be communicated to all workers exposed to the risks; via toolbox meeting. All vehicles, equipment and tools to be used in the work shall be inspected by TMR Safety Supervisor or Project Leader prior to being allowed to enter the job site. The purpose of tank hydrostatic test must be clear since hold point may varies: Tank foundation repair / re-construct Tank plate repair / replacement

Filling up rate shall be within 1.5m per hour. Slower filling up rate is recommended. For tank with internal floating roof (IFR), initial filling rate shall be 0.25m per hour until the IFR is afloat. For hydrostatic test arising from tank foundation repair or re-construction works, the filling up rate must be gradually with hold-points at 67% full and 100% full and tank settlement check at empty, 67% full, 100% full and empty. The hold time shall be when there is no further tank settlement but a minimum of 48-hours. For hydrostatic test arising from tank bottom plate, annular plate or shell plate replacement, there is no requirements for hold-point. The hold time shall be a minimum of 24-hours. During tank emptying, for a fixed roof tank, the roof manhole shall be fully open to allow for air to be drawn into the tank.
