COLLEGE OF ARTS, SCIENCES, AND EDUCATION COURSE SYLLABUS Course Title : Strategic Planning Course No. : DEM 325 Seminar in Strategic Planning Course Description : This course deals in the development of strategic plans in educational institutions. It includes strategy formulation, the identification and analysis of external and internal forces that impede or accelerate programs, and techniques for carrying out various plans. Models are examined, innovations all identified and assessed or evaluated. Course Objectives : At the end of the school term, the doctoral student should be able to : 1. Acquire a broad knowledge on strategic management/planning; 2. Analyze different educational strategic plans; 3. Demonstrate the skill in strategy formulation; 4. Demonstrate the skill in SWOT analysis; 5. Prepare strategic plans for a school; and 6. Appreciate the value of doing pragmatic educational plans. Course Content : I. Course Title : Transformational Leadership Course No. : DEM 325 Seminar in Training Leadership and Institution School Year and Semester : 2011-2012, First Semester Faculty : Dr. Dalisay G. Brawner

Course Description : This course focuses on the paradigm concepts and components of transactional leadership as compared to other leadership styles in the management of organizations, in particular a school setting across levels, Qualities of Leaders, Theories of Leadership and other variables are taken into consideration for better analysis and appreciation of the role of transformational leadership. It further includes readings/cases/researches on transformational leadership to draw out explored and unexplored variables on transformational leadership, research methods/designs, and instruments on transformational leadership.

Course Objectives : At the end of the semester, the doctoral student should be able to : 1. Discuss basic concepts and components of transformational leadership; 2. Analyze and appreciate the role and importance of transformational leadership against the backdrop of other theories of leadership; 3. Scan the educational field that has applied transformational leadership in its operation across levels and programs;

4. Analyze cases/researches on transformational leadership; 5. Develop an instrument on transformational leadership; and 6. Develop a skeletal research proposal related to transformational leadership. Course Content :
