Army partners with DSWD in Housing Project

SAN ISIDRO, DAVAO ORIENTAL- The 28th Infantry Battalion joins the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in giving 21 housing units to 21families during its Turn-Over Ceremony of its Core Shelter Assistance Project worth PhP2 M in Brgy. Bitaogan, San Isidro, Davao Oriental. According to 28th Infantry Battalion Commander, Lt. Col. Leopoldo A. Imbang Jr., the Armys pursuit for peace and development in the area of operation continued in building alliances and enhancing community relations through convergence of efforts with the different stakeholders by providing manpower assistance to any developmental projects. In support to this endeavour of DSWD, we sent troops on September 2010 to help in building the housing units which were finished on February 2011, Lt. Col. Imbang Jr. said. The said project was spearheaded by DSWD, supported by the Local Government Agencies (LGAs), Local Government Units (LGUs) and 28th IB. The activity was attended by DSWD Secretary Corazon DinkY Soliman, DSWD Regional Director Ester Versoza, Gov. Corazon N. Malanyaon, Vice Gov. Mayo Almario and barangay functionaries headed by Brgy. Capt. Alexander Sumbilon and witnessed by the 21families who benefited the said housing project. Sec. Soliman thanked the people of Brgy. Bitaogan and all stakeholders involved for the success of the project. She also lauded the troops of 28 th IB for their untiring support and contribution on the joint undertakings in the completion and success of said project that addresses the needs of the beneficiaries and further encouraged the people to work together as one family. The realization of such project is the result of the previous Peace and Development Outreach Program (PDOP) in the said municipality that satisfies the expectations of the populace that the Military is not only the protector of the people, but also for the building trust and confidence of the different stakeholders in the pursuit of Peace & Development in the localities, Lt.
