Assignment Title Assignment Due Date Assignment Brief: This is a case study based on the planning and design of training and development. The student is expected to analyze the case in light of training contributions to the achievement of business objectives and its role in the development policy. Assignment Task / Description: I. Individually read the case study (refer attachment) provided and identify the core issues concerning the planning and design of training and development. II. Answer the following questions given below, assuming that you have been contacted to provide this training. Make sure you attempt each question fully. 1. Would a Training Needs Analysis be needed in this situation? Why or why not? If yes, who would you need to talk to? 2. In your view, how would training contribute towards business goals and objectives? Explain briefly what will be the role of the designed training and development policy for IMP. 3. Based on the case as presented above, what KSAs need to be trained? How would you overall improve the training process at IMP? 4. Describe a systematic approach to IMPs training and development? Elaborate on each stage of the training approach process. 5 What would you suggest in the way of evaluation of the training? How would you evaluate that the designed training accomplished its objectives? How would you convince top management that it would be worth it? 6. Prepare a training feedback form for the training designed, developed and conducted by you. Assessment Criteria: The student will be awarded a PASS grade if he/she Shows an understanding of the training contributions to the achievement of business objectives. Is able to explain a systematic approach to training and development using a model and outline various stages of a training cycle. Identify the importance of evaluation and how it can help to market the contribution of training and development to the business. Is skillfully able to bring about valid reasons for factors to take into account when planning a training and development event and thereby evaluate an organization's approach to training. The student will achieve a MERIT if he/she along with the criteria for PASS; Uses a range of methods (eg. internet) and techniques to collect, analyze and process information pertaining to the role of training and development policy. Is able to analyze the significance of training evaluation and suggest ways to make evaluation an on-going process in the organization in such a way that it adds value to the organization. Skillfully demonstrates all the stages of a training cycle with examples. A student will be awarded a DISTINCTION if he/she along with the criteria for MERIT; Evaluates and synthesize relevant information and techniques to generate and justify valid conclusions related to contributions of training to business objectives. Shows an individual approach in critically evaluating the factors when planning a training and development event by comparing and contrasting it with prevailing practices. Skillfully designs the evaluation method(s) and appropriately reviews the role of various stakeholders in the overall evaluation process. And in doing the above, uses a range of methods to gather, analyze and process the information pertaining to an organization's
