The Central People's Government passed the Resolution on the National Day of the People's Republic of China on December 2, 1949 and declared October 1 as the National Day or Independence Day of China. China is the worlds longest constantly used written language system, and also the source of many of the world's greatest inventions, including the Four Great Inventions of ancient China- Paper, the Compass, Gunpowder, and Printing.
