The physics behind sensing and energizing the points and meridians:
What is energy?
In physics, energy is defined as the ability to do work.

The circulatory system is an excellent conductor of electricity. Each heartbeat produces a pulse of electricity that flows through the circulatory system. According Ampres Law the flow of electricity through the blood vessels must create pulsing magnetic fields in the space around your body.
In 1831, Michael Faraday in England discovered that moving a magnet near a conductor induces a measurable current in the wire.
Ampres Law:
These same laws enable the conversion of motion to electricity (electric generator) and electricity into motion (electric motor).
Ampres Law explains how currents produced by your heart and other organs give rise to biomagnetic fields in the space around your body and around your hands.
.
Faradays Law of Induction explains how biomagnetic fields around your hands can induce current flows in the people near you.

Sensing magnetic fields. The melanosome is a tiny magnet. A magnetic field makes it rotate, and a filament tugs on a mechanically sensitive ion channel in the cell membrane. When the channel opens it creates a receptor potential that is transmitted to the brain.

Merkel Cell
Projecting magnetic fields. An action potential from the brain causes an electrically gated ion channel in the membrane to rotate, causing the melanosome to rotate, producing a magnetic field.
The brain-Merkel cell connection is bidirectional. Merkel cells not only absorb but also radiate energy fields. Hence the Merkel nerve endings on the hands may mediate the sensing and projecting of energy fields involved in Cranial-Sacral, Shiatsu, Reiki, Healing Touch, Therapeutic Touch, Polarity Therapy, Rolfing, etc. Medical Hypotheses 75(2010):162-168.
Merkel cells are multisensorial cells that can receive almost all environmental stimuli, including electromagnetic and ultraviolet radiations, temperature, humidity and even food type. Medical Hypotheses 75(2010):162-168.
In conclusion, Merkel cells are multifunctional cells whose properties may help us close the gap between orthodox medicine and complementary medicine.

It is not well understood how complementary and alternative therapies work, and this is one reason they remain outside mainstream science and medicine.
Actually, we understand how complementary and alternative therapies work much more than we understand how conventional medicine works, and this is one reason CAM therapies are becoming a major part of mainstream science and medicine.

He studied free radicals. These are molecules lacking one or more electrons. A free radical is is eager to replace its missing electron and will do this by stealing an electron from any nearby structure. While this process is essential to life, it can also be extremely harmful.
Many subtle processes in living systems must depend on small, highly mobile and responsive entities: delocalized electrons.
Anything that disrupts electron flow in the body might push cells into the cancerous state.
Albert Szent-Gyrgyi
Life is too rapid and subtle to be explained by slow moving chemical reactions and nerve impulses.
~Albert Szent-Gyrgyi
In other words, living systems must have a primordial regulatory system that can move energy and information extremely rapidly throughout the body. Cancer and other chronic diseases occur when that system is not working properly.
There is just not enough time between the instant the pitcher releases the ball and the moment it crosses the plate for a hitter to spot it, react to it and move the bat across the plate to meet it.

Mae-Wan Ho and her colleagues in England identified a variety of biological liquid crystals in certain cellular and tissue components.
Most of the body is composed of vertically oriented helical molecules associated with vertically oriented water molecules.
Using a special polarizing microscope that she and her colleagues invented, Ho was able to show the dynamic changes in coherence taking place in microscopic animals from a pond. She refers to this as the quantum jazz of life.
Helicity is important because the space medium and the body medium are both helically organized.

Biological coherence
Albert Einstein
We begin with the BoseEinstein condensate, a state of matter first predicted by S. N. Bose and Albert Einstein in 192425.
Bose was an Indian mathematician and physicist who wrote a paper in 1924 describing a statistical theory for light.
Bose SN, 1924. Plancks Gesetz und Lichtquantenhypothese. (Planck's Law and the Hypothesis of Light Quanta). Zeitschrift fr Physik 26:178-181)
Bose and Einstein collaborated to develop a mathematics called Bose-Einstein statistics, that describes the gas-like qualities of both electromagnetic radiation (light) and collections of coherent electrons or atoms.
Bose-Einstein and Fermi-Dirac statistics apply under conditions when quantum effects are important and the particles become "indistinguishable".
There are two main categories of indistinguishable particles: bosons, which can share quantum states, and fermions, which do not share quantum states due to the Pauli exclusion principle. Examples of bosons are photons, gluons, phonons, and helium-4 atoms. Examples of fermions are electrons, neutrinos, quarks, protons and neutrons, and helium-3 atoms.
The Bose-Einstein condensate is a dense collection of bosons, which are elementary particles or atoms with integer spin, named after Bose. The theory describes the behavior of a group of particles in the same energetic state and accounts for the cohesive streaming of laser light and other quantum phenomena.
Interest in this subject began to take off in the mid 1990s. Here we see the annual number of published papers (as of 2001), which have the words Bose and Einstein in their title, abstracts or keywords.

Seventy years after the proposal by Bose and Einstein, the first gaseous condensate was produced by Cornell and Wieman in 1995 at the University of Colorado using a gas of rubidium atoms cooled to 170 nanokelvin. For their achievements Cornell, Wieman, and Wolfgang Ketterle received the 2001 Nobel Prize in Physics.
WHEN ATOMS BEHAVE AS WAVES: BOSE-EINSTEIN CONDENSATION AND THE ATOM LASER Nobel Lecture, December 8, 2001 by WOLFGANG KETTERLE Department of Physics, MIT-Harvard Center for Ultracold Atoms, and ResearchLaboratory of Electronics, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, Massachusetts, 02139, USA.
The MIT atom laser operating at 200 Hz. Pulses of coherent sodium atoms are coupled out from a Bose-Einstein condensate confined in a magnetic trap (field of view 2.5 x 5.0 mm2). Every 5 ms, a short rf pulse transferred a fraction of these atoms into an unconfined quantum state. These atoms were accelerated downward by gravity and spread out due to repulsive interactions. Each pulse contained between 105 and 106 atoms.
A Bose-Einstein condensate is a state of matter of a dilute gas of weakly interacting bosons confined in an external field and cooled to temperatures very near to absolute zero. Under such conditions, a large fraction of the bosons occupy the lowest quantum state. Quantum effects become apparent on a macroscopic scale.
One of the leading theorists in the field of superconduction, Herbert Frhlich, demonstrated that Bose-Einstein condensation can take place in living tissues at body temperatures and pressures because of the high degree of order or crystallinity.

In 2000, Oschman pointed out that the conditions for biological coherence exist in a variety of tissues in animals. These tissues constitute the bulk of the animal body.
Oschman, J.L., 2000. Energy Medicine: the scientific basis. Churchill Livningstone/Harcourt Brace, Edinburgh.
Mae-wan Ho described the way energy and information can cycle through living systems. Organisms can take advantage of a complete spectrum of coupled cycles, storing and mobilizing energy and information using many different kinds of efficient transfers.
Energy and information input into any of the bodys systems can be readily delocalized over all systems; conversely energy and information from all systems can become concentrated into any single system.
Energy coupling in living systems is symmetrical, which is why we can have energy at will, whenever and wherever required.
Ho, M.-W., 1996. The biology of free will. Journal of Consciousness Studies 3:231-244.
Electromechanical oscillators can become resonantly coupled together through coherent sound, electromagnetic fields (light), matter and other emissions to form extended Frhlich systems.
Avery, J., Bay, Z., and Szent-Gyorgyi, A., 1961. On the energy transfer in biological systems. Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, USA 47:1742-1744.
The mechanisms involved in such efficient coupling have now been documented by the Fleming group at the University of California, Berkeley:
This wavelike characteristic of the energy transfer within the photosynthetic complex can explain its extreme efficiency, in that it allows the complexes to sample vast areas of phase space to find the most efficient path.

mitochondrion
The next step will be to describe how these concepts can be used to explain wave-like electron transport taking place in the mitochondrion of the animal cell and between the mitochondrion and the distant places where energy is needed.
Coherent energy will exchanged between the pace medium and the body medium and vice versa.

Traditional therapy seeks memories, ideas, sensations, feelings, thoughts as primary. Redpath discovered that there is something prior, preverbal, that can be reached directly.

In terms of evolution, the living matrix is much older and mature and much more sophisticated than the nervous system. It is much faster than the nervous system and it extends into places nerves do not reach.
Perhaps the living matrix is the embodiment of the system that Szent-Gyrgyi was looking for.
Recent research has explained what is meant by healing accomplished by moving energy.
Virtually all of the most deadly and costly diseases of our times have a common cause. This includes many conditions that have previously been termed incurable.
Inflammation has turned out to be the holy grail of medicine. Inflammation is an energetic condition is best approached with methods that are based on energetics.
The public is being informed that inflammation is a common denominator to a wide range of chronic diseases.
aging Alzheimers disease asthma atherosclerosis bowel disorders cancer cirrhosis of the liver cystic fibrosis diabetes meningitis multiple sclerosis osteoporosis psoriasis rheumatoid arthritis
The point of this table: the success of light and related energy therapies for the treatment of a wide variety of disorders may be due to their ability to relieve chronic inflammation.
Chronic inflammation is caused by highly reactive positively charged free radicals, and is therefore an energetic condition.
This is why energy therapies are often successful when conventional treatments do not work. Inflammation is the key.
The common aspect of all of these approaches is their ability to make electrons move. Electrons are the ultimate anti-oxidants.

Argentaffin Granules
neutrophil
neutrophil
In the oxidative burst, neutrophils deliver free radicals to the site of injury to destroy bacteria and damaged cells.
Some of the free radicals attack the surrounding tissues and damage healthy cells. The resulting debris coagulates to form an inflammatory barricade.
The inflammatory barricade blocks antioxidants and regenerative cells from entering the repair field.
Repair is incomplete and the immune system continues to try to repair the damage. This sets up a vicious cycle that can persist for a very long period of time leading to chronic inflammation.
The inflammatory barricade is formed because of collateral damage to healthy tissues. The secret to acute injury: prevent the formation of the inflammatory barricade. How do you do this: get anti-oxidant electrons to the area ASAP to stop free radical damage to healthy cells.

Grounding comes at a time when medical researchers are discovering that inflammation is a common denominator to a wide range of chronic diseases.
Inflammation involves free radicals. Free radicals are molecules that lack one or more electrons. Free radicals acquire electrons by oxidizing other molecules which are destroyed in the process. Oxygen is the ultimate free radical; electrons are the ultimate antioxidants.
The connective tissue ground substance is electrically charged and stores electrons.
The ground substance is a reservoir of electrons that can be recruited at any point in the body where free radicals are present. Those electrons can move through the matrix and electrically neutralize free radicals.
Ungrounded person: charge reservoirs are depleted. We refer to this as electron depletion.
Grounded person: charge reservoirs are filled. We refer to this as inflammatory preparedness.

Inflammation caused by unnecessary damage to nearby healthy tissues can lead to chronic disease.

When the body is connected to the earth shortly after an injury, we see only traces of the classical signs of inflammation.
Day 2 healing
From the preface: Aging remains one of the biggest unsolved problems in biology. More than 50 years ago, Denham Harman proposed the free radical theory of aging: cumulative damage from oxygen free radicals causes the process of aging. The free radical theory is the most extensively tested of all aging theories.
We also suspect that electrons from the ground substance reservoirs located throughout the body have an anti-aging effect by preventing free radical damage.
The Living Matrix or ground regulation system is our built-in anti-oxidant defense system.
