Integration in : occupational professionalism, exceptional skills

Increase in development: Innovation and superiority, diverse and

continuous academic research in serving the society.

NEW PLAN PREPARATION PHASES

At the preparation of any new plan aiming at the development of an old plan or approving a
new study program, the three elements of what is known as "Integrated Curriculum" should
be incorporated:

Cognitive content
Technical aspect
Skillful performance

This implicates the strict adherence of the following phases:

Phase I: Literature Survey:

It refers to introduction to previous experiences and achievements of western universities

(in the United States, particularly).
It includes:

1.
2.
3.
4.

Number of hours in the similar program in these universities

Distribution of hours on various pre-requisites (University, College,
Specialty)
How technology and skill components are incorporated into the curriculum
Preparation of a summary or report on tasks undertaken during this phase

Phase II: Comparison Phase I among selected universities:

It includes:
1. Comparison between objectives of the suggested program and those of similar
programs in universities surveyed in phase I
2. Comparison between number of hours and their various distribution
3. Preparation of a report including department recommendation relating to the
model or suggested plan based on the above information and specific program
objectives

Phase III: Field Survey to identify job market requirements:

It includes:

1. Determining based on suggested public and private sector authorities to

survey on the above information and specific programs objectives.
2. Preparation of necessary survey tools; questionnaires, interviews, Focus
Groups, etc
3. Preparation of a full report on Phase III results

Phase IV: Balance of program elements (Scientific content Technical aspect skill
performance):
It includes:

1. Review of accurate description of course contents in similar university

programs surveyed in Phase I for the purpose of introducing the procedure
to incorporate technical and skillful aspects with the scientific content
2. Application of pervious section (1) above on suggested scientific subjects in
the program, provided that Phase III results are approved
3. Taking into account private sector views within the framework of a tailored
technique and based on immediate results.

Phase V: Final design of the study plan:

It includes:

1. Distribution of courses for the suggested levels of study, provided that

results of previous phases, course pre-requisites as well as scientific and
logical sequencing are taken into consideration
2. Approval of suitable training programs to develop students' practical skills
for better functioning in the job market
3. Detailed course description; including course objectives, competencies and
course content
4. Final revision by the concerned department

Phase VI: Approval by university council:

It includes:

1. Approval of the department council

2. Faculty Curriculum Committee revises key plan features, verifies inclusion of
main and detailed constituents and fulfillment of previous phases

3. Submission of plan to the faculty council for approval

4. Submissions to the University President in multiple folders, as his approval
procedures involve more than one instances.
5. The record must be attached with:
Permission of adding Plan model
Summary of literature survey
Scientific department report including differentiation with the
literature survey
Report about the outcome of literature and field survey study in
assessment of study plan

Phase VII: Final review:

It includes:

1.
2.

Plan review by the Academic Organizational Structuring Committee to verify

appliance with mission and role
Plan review by the Curriculum Committee to verify fulfillment of mission and role

Phase VIII: Continuous revision and assessment:

Such phase is solely the responsibility of the academic department concerned and is carried
out according to pre-set schedules and models that should be submitted to the university
President as part of the Annual reports.
