Assessment task 1 Stage 1 Planning Assessment task instructions Assessment guidelines This assessment should be conducted under open-book conditions. Assessors are entitled to ensure that work submitted is your own. The work produced should be your own and although access to the internet is encouraged any website referenced or used should be referenced and any text produced should be written in your own words. This assignment covers Stage 1 (Planning) of your project. This forms a maximum of 40% of your final mark. You are required to read the supplied scenario. It is necessary for you to carry out the analysis of the scenario and the required upgrade. When you have completed this task you are required to produce a report that contains the following: an analysis of what you think is involved in the project up to 6 marks a short summary of the aims of the project up to 3 marks identification of the key factors influencing the project up to 5 marks the proposed upgrade solution including; up to 12 marks identification of resource materials utilisation of resources and materials time allocated to the project

When creating your plan you should think of the resources, materials and time that you will require for this project. Resources should include equipment required to meet the project outcome and should detail all appropriate components needed to implement the design and what each component will be used for. This should include: hardware: servers, workstations, printers, cabling and networking devices and media etc software: operating system(s), applications and drivers etc

This proposed design should include a floor plan showing infrastructure topologies. This will be built upon when carrying out the Developing stage of your project.
