Background Health Technology Assessment (HTA) is a multidisciplinary field focusing on the medical, social, ethical and economic implications

of health technologies to provide decision-makers with timely, accurate and sound evidence-based information. The benefits of HTA include reducing uncertainty and risks in patient outcomes, cost-effectiveness to the government and the Department of Health, proper targeting of health services and ensuring the safety and efficacy of medical devices.

Recent health care industry players, and the international HTA network legislation such as the Food and Drugs Administration Act of to further promote the importance of HTA as an evidence-based 2009 and the amendments proposed for the National Health tool to support health policy. Customized courses are designed Insurance Program requires the use of policy tools that ensure to develop the skills of participants in benefit assessment cost-effectiveness while promoting access and quality. Health (Biostatistics, clinical epidemiology, patient-relevant outcomes, Technology Assessment (HTA) is an integral component for and risk-benefit assessment), economic evaluation (Costing, assessing health products and procedures for procurement and cost-effectiveness analysis, pharmacoeconomic modeling, registration purposes, in the selection of products for the budget impact analysis, resource allocation), and the application national formulary or technologies for PhilHealth benefit of ethical, legal and social implications in health policy and packages and reimbursements. market access research.

univariate and multivariate analysis of data, sample size and power calculations). Understand safety and clinical objectives, as well as regulatory trends and requirements. Understand the advantages and disadvantages of patient registry versus other real world data collection. Develop data collection sheets and protocols. Learn management issues, including creating effective partnerships with patient-oriented organizations and facilitating long-term program operations. Familiarize themselves with the foundations of statistical estimation and testing of hypothesis. Perform regression techniques to correlate between variables. Learn the elements of Bayesian statistics and its application to health economics and outcomes research, specifically on clinical trials and costeffectiveness analyses.
