Presenter: Nick Clegg proposes 126 million pay-per-neet scheme, crunch time for local Olympic hopefuls, and we found out what Oldham thought of the BRITS (soundbed) (10 seconds) (voxpops x2) Hello, Im Chloe Davies, its 9oclock and here is your morning news update. Nick Clegg has announced plans to launch a scheme to get 55,000 young people into employment. The 126 million pay-per-neet scheme is aimed at youths who are currently out of education, employment or training. Almost 1 in 5 young people aged between 16 and 24 are classified as NEET. The deputy prime minister has said that allowing firms and charities to bid for a payment by results scheme will help improve the ticking time bomb that is youth unemployment. Meanwhile, Labour leader Ed Milliband has said that the scheme is simply too little, too late and has suggested that the government needs to bite the bullet and put in a sensible tax on bankers bonuses in the hopes that that will get 100,000 young people into work. We sent our education correspondent, Ikra Khatoon, to speak to a local careers advisor about the scheme. (interview) And in other news, one of Oldhams very own Olympic hopefuls, swimmer Jess Lloyd, has made her Olympic dreams come true after clinching her place on team GB for the London 2012 Olympic games. She will join the rest of the relay team after impressing with her 100m open age freestyle swim, returning with the seventh-fastest time ever recorded by a woman in her category in British history. We took to the streets of Oldham to find out what effect this could have on Oldham. (voxpops) And finally, the BRITS took place on Tuesday 21st February at the o2 arena for the second year running. An array of both British and International artists turned up to celebrate another year of great music, with Adele being the nights winner taking home 3 awards and Blur walking away with the highly anticipated Lifetime Achievement award. But as usual, the night wasnt short of controversy and we decided to do our own take of the BRITS the GITS to get an Oldhams opinion of the people least likely to deserve an award. We sent out our entertainment correspondent to find out which artist should be awarded the OCR GIT award 2012.
