Stewardship of the Good News

Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight and the sin that clings so closely, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus the pioneer and perfecter of our faith, who for the sake of the joy that was set before him endured the cross, disregarding its shame, and has taken his seat at the right hand of the throne of God. ~ Hebrews 12:13 A season of Hope. As I sit down to write my newsletter article for this month I find myself in an interesting position, and one that quite frankly I like quite a lot. We here at Peace Lutheran Church are moving into a Season of Hope. As I look around our congregation I see saints who are excited for the ministry possibilities that are sprouting among us and all around us! As you have shared your lives with me through our shared ministry, you have told me some of the pain and suffering that you have traversed together as a family of faith, a congregation. I dont know all of the details, and in the end it may not matter, but what I am learning from you, and with you is that a new day is dawning. But that is the Easter Message isnt it? During Holy week we remember the journey of God in Christ Jesus as he was carried into Jerusalem on a donkey, cheered on by adoring crowds only to later be betrayed not only by those same voices, but by the twelve men he was the closest tothe disciples, his friends. Once this betrayal was complete, He was put on trial, suffered and died a humiliating death. But that pain and suffering wasnt the end of Gods Story. A new day, a new hope, a new promise, New Life, ResurrectionEaster. The question for me in this season of Hope, both the liturgical season of Easter, as well as this new season of Hope for Peace Lutheran is what do we do with this Good News? What is our future? Where do we go from here? I will be asking our council, our different ministries, and you what your hopes and dreams are for Peace Lutheran in the coming year, as well as where do you hope we will be in five or even ten years. We are at a unique time in our shared history and shared ministry together to break free of all of that holds us back and find together a new path together keeping our eyes firmly on Jesus our savior and perfecter of our faith. ~Matthew Rose, Pastor
