Oral Assessment I

French 601C, Fall 2011 Next week, outside of class, you will demonstrate your speaking skills in French during a visit with your FR 601C instructor. The visit will take place in your instructors office, and will last approximately 1-2 minutes. You should be able to present yourself (name, age, nationality, studies, etc.), describe a classroom, talk about your favorite pastimes, and describe your family, their names, and what they do. These tasks reflect what you have been doing in class in Ch. 12, as well as your writing assignments and written exams. In preparation, review the videos and vocabulary for Chapters 0-2, as well as the paragraphs you have written as homework and on the first two exams. When you come to your instructors office, he/she will give you a checklist of items to discuss. Your instructor will listen as you speak, but will not participate. Do your best to communicate as naturally as possible in French. Do not use English. If you realize you have made a mistake, you may correct yourself or clarify your ideas. Please keep in mind that this time will be for the oral assessment only. If you need to discuss your grade(s) in the class, or questions you may have related to the lesson, please come back during office hours or schedule an appointment to see your instructor at a later time. This assessment is worth 2.5% of your grade (see grading criteria below). You may wish to practice with the friendly TAs in the Tutorial Center of the French Department. To prepare for the first FR 601C oral assessment, you should be able to check off each box below. Bon courage! Chapters 0-1 I can
