Battery Selection Criterion/ Guideline for Solar TSS visit

1. Battery We Use 2V Gel battery for Solar from 300AH to 800AH as per site condition and remove existing old battery. Battery Specification

Cabinet Specification There are two type of battery cabinet. 1. If Battery AH is up to 500AH we use Cabinet with Dimension 1364 x 1064 x700 (Lx Wx H) Weight of such type of Cabinet without battery is Approx 140 Kg. 2. If Battery AH is more than 500AH Up to 1000AH we use Cabinet with Dimension 1614 x1174 x900 (Lx Wx H) Weight of such type of Cabinet without battery is Approx 195 Kg.

Battery Calculation guideline Battery capacity is decided based on load current, battery efficiency, length and frequency of power cut, and expansion requirement. The following formula may help: C = [(Load Current + Standby Load Current) 10]Battery Efficiency A Where C is battery capacity, A is the weighted index of required discharge duration {Discharge Time (hour)10. }

For Example BTSs full Load current is 15 A, The operational current for transmission is 5A, and a CDMA device is to be introduced to the system with the operational current as 12 A. The BTS has frequent Power failure problem with the duration as 24 hours each time. Now Calculation of required Battery is as below. C= (15+5+12)x10/.85x2.4 =903 AH So two 490AH battery will be selected.

As per site condition modification may be required. For instant, A. Load consumption 1650 watt, Power failure problem with the duration as 24 hours, AC supply 3X 32 A, DG kVA rating 3 x 15 kVA. B. Load consumption 1650 watt, Power failure problem with the duration as 24 hours, AC supply 3X 20 A, DG kVA rating 3 x 15 kVA. C. Load consumption 1650 watt, Power failure problem with the duration as 24 hours, AC supply 3X 10 A, DG kVA rating 3 x 15 kVA. From calculation according to backup time, Actual Needed battery backup is obtained to be C=(1650/48)x10/.85x2.4= 2x490 AH But to charge 2 x 490 AH battery minimum AC current needed is 2 x 20 Amp, So Only Option A and B will be suitable for 490 AH battery from AC mains point of view. But if the Bearing capacity cannot be meet in roof top sites in option A & B then we have to select option like Putting Battery bank in another Floor or Distribution of battery bank to various area for Distribution of load. If we cannot find space for distribution of load then the other option will be decreasing battery bank capacity to 420AH, so that weight of battery will be decreased. Please Mention Comment in TSSR before reducing battery capacity or Battery bank distribution or any other design logic is implemented. For Option C As AC power is less, option will be decrease battery AH capacity or increase NEA Grid AC capacity. Note: As existing battery will be removed, Certain weight will be decreased. Mention the Previous and Future weight of battery and battery cabinet in TSSR. Also we have to consider DG kVA rating, if DG is smaller capacity then DG will unable to charge the new added battery so Battery size has to be reduced or DG size has to be increased.
