3. What is reality?
Reality = experience.
No experience = no reality
4. What is experience?
Dimensions of experience:
(a) Field of experience: containing inert objects, living entities and events in the
environment, both outer and inner.
(b) Instruments of experience: sense organs and their abilities connected to the
brain + technological instruments built through scientific knowledge.
(c) Processor of experience: brain complex with its main mental faculties- mind
(apprehension: sensation & imagination), intellect (comprehension: logical &
intuitive thoughts), impulse (emotion: basic feelings & drives), and memory
(retention: storehouse of past experiences, direct, indirect, conscious or
subconscious, personal or collective)
(d) Levels of experience: conscious (wakeful, presence), subconscious (dream
or semi-presence), unconscious (sleep or absence)
(e) Centre of experience : ego or I-Me aspect of personality. It is the conscious
consistent cognitive self-centre put together by experiences. It makes ‘as if’ all
experiences occur to it and ‘as if’ all experience occurred through its own
agency. It is the essence (subtle stuff) of experience or reality.
