Sample Topic: Mall Culture gives a boost to the teenagers of the 21st century. Do you agree? Mall culture gives a boost to the teenagers of the 21 st century. Let us think of the ways that mall culture encourages teenagers to be awesome. There has been a debate around the world that this culture brings in a huge change in the lives of teens. Some go on with the topic saying It is good and it transforms a teens life and some are not in favor of the present mall culture as it drags the teens personality to the street. However I believe that mall culture gives an edge to teens lives and helps them reach another level in life style. Teenagers go to malls because they become a hub which connects them with their friends and new trends. They shop together and buy clothes, food, gadgets, latest movies, computer games and many useful things to update them in the modern world. Malls play a major role in the lives of teenagers to keep in touch and have fun. However, parents and teachers claim that the teenagers spend too much money on branded clothes such as Adidas, Puma, Nike, Levis and Lee Cooper. They also waste their pocket money buying junk food burgers, pizzas, popcorn, nachos, etc. Parents may be correct in their point of view but you dont see all the teenagers visiting malls to buy expensive clothes and junk food. They hang around with their buddies to build their long term friendship. They want to gather latest knowledge about the city and the society they live in. The teenagers learn not the mall culture but modern culture that promotes their life-style. In fact the malls are like a bridge between teenagers healthy relations and learning desire. Teenagers enjoy a state of independence in malls. Whenever they visit a mall, they experience confidence and pride. They feel a rush of excitement as they merge into a

crowd of chattering and bustling people. But parents, as usual, have a different opinion. They worry that teenagers are still young and cannot take care of themselves without getting lost, kidnapped or in trouble. However, the truth is the teenagers need to step out and experience the world for themselves. As the saying goes, every man for himself, every teenager tries to stand on his or her own feet. Going to malls improves the standard of living. Teenagers get exposed to more of multicultural setting. For instance, India is exposed to cultures such as American, Spanish, Italian, Chinese, French, Mexican and Japanese through McDonalds, KFC, Beijing bites, Pizza hut, Taco Bell, etc. On the contrary parents are not in favor of this multi-culture because the teenagers are engrossed in more of foreign, unknown lifestyle rather than their own. But the growing teens are learning how to respect other cultures. Their horizons are broadened; they are globally informed and are able to understand from others point of view. Malls serve as a hangout for teens to have clean fun by not being hazardous to their health and well-being. They provide cinemas, restaurants, arcades, all and more at one stop which has positive effects such as decreasing rates of teenage pregnancy, drug and alcohol abuse, etc. However, some parents do not feel comfortable letting their children go to malls, as they may build unhealthy relationships and neglect their studies which could lead to bad examination results. Conversely, not all teenagers have a bad sense of responsibility. In fact, most of the malls are under surveillance, so parents can relax, knowing their kids are safe, and teenagers can finally be teenagers again.

Malls are a place of convenience. Teenagers visit malls because they want to purchase everything they would like to have such as trendy clothes, varieties of food and latest gadgets. Teenagers find malls very convenient because they find all their needs in one place. But parents think teenagers spend money on useless things and waste their precious time in malls. In my opinion, parents dont realize the fact that malls save time, money and energy. Malls are designed to create memorable shopping experiences. In addition to actual buying, teenagers use malls as a modern city hangout to have a good time exploring electronics, movies, books, clothes and food courts. On the other hand, parents feel that the entertainment found in malls is too artificial, compared to other places for recreation such as parks, playgrounds and gardens where they had spent their time as teenagers. However, parents need to realize that times have changed and that malls are made for teens to have fun in a variety of ways and not just running games. Teenagers are given memories that they will cherish when the years have gone by. Conclusion Parents should understand us, teens and our position today. Malls are not just a place to spend our time with no purpose. They are a place to plan our future lives with better standard of living, freedom and diverse lifestyle. Malls are a connecting point to all of us for the purpose of hanging out, carrying unforgettable experiences back home with us. Who will ignore such a blessing these days?
