Purpose Statement

1. What themes do you want to pursue and how do you want to exemplify them? (Think of themes you have seen in books, movies, and video games before. What themes can you pick out from those examples? What will you include in your concept and how do you want those themes to play out?)

Theme: Action. Drama. (Sacrifice, Brotherhood) Since my movie is about Civil War, it would have a background of a warzone in every setting. Also, it is about mainly about two brothers, the movie itself would have a lot of conversation between them.

2. What social issues do you want to foreground? Social Issues: 1. The ability to work together Two brothers are fighting back to back in the battle front, supporting each other to survive in the battles and return home safely. 2. The War Fighting until the commanders reach their goal. Privates such as Hunter and Jonathan had no choice but obey the orders 3. What perspective of the event do you want to show? What is your statement about this event? What is your rhetorical argument? The perspective of the event: Neutral (neither North or South) Since the brothers were forced to enter the war, the only goal was to survive throughout the war. They just wanted the war to be over so they could go back home and live happily with their family. 4. How are you conveying this perspective in a unique manner? What is different about your representation that allows your audience to see it in a new way?

Throughout the century, there were very few Civil War movies that came out. Also my main purpose is not mainly about the Civil War. It is mostly about the brotherly love that they share during a hardship. Rather than focusing on "mission complete" like in a typical war movies, my movie is about how soldiers really feel during the

war times. 5. How do you want to foreground this (narrative or ideological) perspective in your concept? (Example: Do you want to show poverty by creating a main character that is homeless, or do you want to set the scene or have an accumulation of events that present aspects of homelessness?)

I want to set the scene or have an accumulation of events that present aspects of poverty. Because of the slavery, many white men could not find a job in the South. 6. Give a quick description of how your plot and events will contribute to your unique perspective. Quick Description: Events contributing to my perspective. Expanding Slavery vs. Abolishing Slavery. South vs. North 7. Give a quick description of how your characters will contribute to your unique perspective. Quick Description: Characters contributing to my perspective: Two brothers supporting each other and eager to survive during the war. This will contribute to their wish that they want the war to be over so that they could go back to their family. 8. After seeing your book, movie, or video game, what is it that you want your readers to understand? What do you want to achieve? Look back to what you have written and think about how all of these ideas to come together. I want my audience to think about their relationship between their siblings I hope my movie has an impact on their relationship so that they can have happiness that the two brothers couldn't have. I want my audience to understand how lucky and fortunate they are to have a sibling who can back you up, never let you down, or love you as who you are.

I also want my audience to focus on the brotherhood rather than the action part of the movie because that is my main idea of the movie.
