the family arrived: Susan was born in
1961. Our family had grown to 5. Our
extended family now consists of 7
grandchildren and 9 great grandchil-
dren.
We moved to Rolla in
1964 as Carl had se-
cured a position at Ft.
Leonard, where he
worked for the next
twenty years, retiring in
1984 as a Computer
Systems Analyst-
Programmer-Supervisor.
The finishing touches
were being placed upon
the new church build-
ing when we arrived in
1964, and Carl helped
by laying floor tile and
serving as a general gofer. Church
services were held in the downstairs
area (known then as the CA area) until
the main auditorium was completed.
We were here for the first service in
the new building and the dedication
service that followed soon afterwards.

Texas. They met in 1951, while Carl
was stationed at Goodfellow AFB, near
Veribest, Texas (a sub-

were married in Eola,

a proud Texan and
wants everyone to
know it!
During ten years in
the Air Force they lived
in many different places

Illinois, Alaska, and Cal-

(born in Mountain Home, Idaho) and
Stephen (born in Belleville, Illinois).
We settled in St. Louis County, Mis-

santo Chemical world headquarters
offices in Creve Coeur, until October,
1964. While there another member of

great man, well-respected in the community. We
loved him!
It was a thriving church, as evidenced by the
building program just completed. Many old timers
recall revival services with very large attendance
(i.e. Evangelist Ernie Eskelin). However, like in any
growing church, he could use more willing work-
ers.
Pastor Roberts knew that we had served in other
churches so upon our arrival, he welcomed us in
and gave us opportunities to serve in many ways to
include: SS teacher, CA sponsor, Deacon, SS Su-
perintendent and Secretary-Treasurer. Carl also
installed the first computer accounting system used
by the church.
Wherever Carl served, Dorse was nearby, often
in the background, as a silent partner. We served
together.
Our children grew up in the church, met their
spouses in the church, and some were married and
dedicated their children in the church.
Our annual Servant Saturday will be on April
14 from 8:00 am to noon. Come to the Roberts
Family Life Center for breakfast and a couple of
hours of work. We need to do some painting,
cleaning, and repair projects
throughout the church to get the
campus in tip top shape.
There are jobs for all ages, so
bring your whole family to help get the
building and grounds looking their best.
You do not have to have any special
skills; there is plenty of work for every-
one!

Steve graduated from Missouri S & T (then UMR)
and lives in Eugene, Mo. Sharon works at Evangel
college in Springfield, and Susan lives in Rolla and
is employed at Phelps County Bank.
Currently, Carl serves as teacher in the Sr. Adult
Sunday School class (with Dorses assistance).
Dorse was active with the Pathfinders (now called
the Jubilee Group) - a senior adult ministry - for
several years.
We are in our 48

year of attending First Assem-

Annette Whitmire have seen many changes and
improvements. We love and appreciate them very
much!
Thank you for reading about us!

Preparing the way for Missions and the Persecuted Church through fervent intercessory prayer.
A MOUNTAIN was once greatly agitated.
Loud groans and noises were heard. Crowds of
people came from all parts to see what was the
matter. While they were assembled in anxious ex-
pectation of some terrible calamity, out came a
Mouse (Aesop's Fables).

And Jesus answered them, Have faith in
God. Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this
mountain, Be taken up and thrown into the sea,
and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that
what he says will come to pass, it will be done for
him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in pray-
er, believe that you have received it, and it will be
yours. Mark 11:22-24

I have a vision of moving mountains, of shak-
ing the foundation of the neighborhoods around me;
of simply waiting on the Lord, listening with expec-
tation, for the groaning that comes as the enemys
territory is invaded by the chorus of prayer lifted in
one voice by Gods people.
I have a vision of Rolla being a city set upon
a hill (Mt. 5:14); a place where people come from all
the world to see the glory of the Lord a place
where the Kingdom of the Almighty God decrees
the mores of a community who has set their minds
on things above (Col. 3).
I have a vision of nations whose people have
hearts that are set to come to a place where there
is freedom in Christ, where the love of our Savior
dwells; where the heart of God is evident in the
places where worship abounds through the prayers
of His people. I have a dream of a place where
people of all nations learn how to take hold of the
truth in Christ and receive the preparation and
courage to take back to their people the hope that
lives within each of us (1 Peter 3:15).
I have a vision of mountains falling into the
seas; mountains of disbelief, of divisions; of injus-
tices and moral failings. I have a vision of green
pastures where people are led by the Great Shep-
herd and fed with the purity of His Word; where
drugs and alcohol and other addictives are tossed
aside for the pure filling of the Holy Spirit.
I have a vision, but it doesnt begin to be ful-
filled in the marketplaces or the city halls. It is not
ignited in the libraries or the seminaries; nor does it
even begin to be accomplished in the Sunday
morning services. It begins in the heart of each
person who has set their hearts and minds on the
Lord; one person desiring Thy Kingdom Come (Mt
6:10); one person dedicated to prayer.
I have a vision that is larger than I am able
to accomplish on my own. I am a mouse stirring
about in the midst of a mountain, hoping to make
enough noise to draw a crowd; not a crowd that
comes in expectation to see what all of my shouts
and groans can bring down, but a crowd that will
stir around the foothills with me and pray together
until the mountains of the enemy fall down; a crowd
that will march, making the sounds of thunder,
breaking through the enemys camp with a unified
shout until the glory of the Lord shines in Rolla!
My vision is born from and bathed in prayer.
If you can, join me for prayer one morning a week?
A little in the hands of the Lord goes along way.
We may be as small as a mouse, but our prayers
can shake the mountains and make them fall.

Our Youth Fine Arts Ministry took part in District competition in March at Evangel University in
Springfield. We had 27 students participate in everything from singing, preaching, drama, to
photography, to songwriting. Those that advanced to Nationals in Louisville, KY were Aimee Whitmire
for Digital Photography, Sydne Arthur for Female Vocal Solo, Austin Crooks and Mackenzie Adams for
Preaching, and Ethan Lane for Songwriting. Ethan also won the district award of merit for his song
Throw My Burdens Away. We would like to say thank you to all of our students, who worked hard and
to our adult sponsors and coaches who invested many hours to make this years Fine Arts a success.

God wants you to want Him. And when you realize
that it is really Him that you want, it frees you to
identify the longings, loneliness, or emptiness inside
of you as a sign that you need to draw near to God
and ask Him to fill you with more of Himself. But this
deep relationship with God that we all want, wheth-
er we know its what we want at the time or not,
doesnt just happen. It has to be sought after. We
have to pray for a deeper relationship with God. We
have to pray that our walk with God is not shallow.
