EpiSurveyor is a free, open source tool enabling users to easily create a handheld data entry form, collect data on a mobile device, and then transfer or upload the data back to a desktop or web server for analysis -- without expensive consultants, software subscriptions, or long-term contracts. The solution allows creation of surveys using the desktop application and seamlessly publishing them to the handheld devices. Data can be collected by field agents on their PDA's in the offline mode and can be synced to desktop application at convenience. The solution helps in eliminating the paper chain and making the entire process fast, efficient and free of error

Business Challenge

The challenge was to provide users with a solution which allows them to easily create a generic data entry form on the web, transfer it seamlessly to the mobile devices thereby simplifying data collection on the field. It also required collection the data back to a desktop or web server for further analysis. Solution has to be generic enough to support various kind of survey requirements from U.N. organizations, Hospitals etc. The challenge was to upgrade an existing product with advanced features. It was also required to develop a web version of the soluton, similar to desktop edition. The solution had to be ported from J2ME version to support additional platforms

Episurveyor was enhanced by Endeavour team for various world class features like installation of Episurveyor to PDA from desktop, introduction of new types of questions, improving publish mechanism and popup keyboards on device, allowing user to save survey speci cations etc. Episurveyor facilitates: Creation of generic surveys for wide range of industries from desktop or web application. Surveys thus created can be published to Palm & Windows mobile devices and can be downloaded on J2ME devices. Survey data can be collected on di erent devices and transferred to desktop or can be uploaded on the web server. Data collected can be analysed and exported to various formats like html, mdb. It can be archived also from desktop/laptop.
