Kellys Korner
On the Road to Emmaus St Luke 24:13-32 Two disciples were on the road to Emmaus, seven miles from Jerusalemon Easter afternoon. I have been on that road! Then again, so have many of you! Its a road marked by: Grief Disappointment, and Pain. Today, March 9, I received an email about my friend, Mike. He absolutely loves to ride horses. He and his family spend entire vacations on some trail ridein Colorado, Missouri, South Dakota or Nebraska. Mike often works the rodeo. Today I received the sad newsMike is dying, currently a patient of hospice. Mike and his precious wife, Carol, are on the Road to Emmaus. Then, heres a man on his second year of unemployment. Its about to run out. He feels nothing but discouragement and uselessness. Hes on his Road to Emmaus. We have several beautiful people who are numbered among our family and friends at Chapelthey are somewhere along the Road to Emmaus. Surely, you have walked this way yourself. When Jesus and the two disciples arrived in Emmaus, it was supper time. They urged Jesus to join them for a meal. As they sat at supper with Him, they asked Him to offer grace. And Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it and gave it to them. Then their eyes were opened, and they recognized Him; and He vanished from their sight. St. Luke 24:30-31 On the Road to Emmaus, they doubted that Jesus was alive again. In the breaking of the bread, they believed that Jesus had been raised to life. Every time we eat the bread and drink the cup, we experience the presence of the Risen Christ!

I want to thank everyone for welcoming me and my family to serve with you January and February. You have a vibrant congregation and it was truly a joy to serve you and worship with you. We look forward to visiting you and staying in touch. You are a beautiful church family and God is definitely alive in your congregation. Keep looking to Him and trusting Him on your journey together. Pastor Dean and Marvalyn, Welcome Home and Happy St. Patricks Day (Top of the morning to you). 4-6th Graders Endure a LONG Movie

The 4-6 Grade Class just finished watching the movie The Ten Commandments. It took 7 weeks for us to complete it. Grace Shewe and Kasey Winters both had perfect attendance-for which they were rewarded with a little gift. We sang a song about the Ten Commandments to the tune of Farmer in the Dell. We also played a card game answering questions pertaining to them. They did a great job answering them! We also built an Ark of the Covenant and put in it: Tablets of the Ten Commandments, manna in a golden jar, and Aaron's blooming staff. We also have a blue veil to cover it. What a great group of kids. I do have the CD if anyone would want to borrow it. ~ Carol Lamer

The Bible contains the mind of God, the state of man, the way of salvation, the doom of sinners, and the happiness of believers. Its doctrines are holy, its precepts are binding, its histories are true, and its decisions are immutable. Read it to be wise, believe it to be safe, and practice it to be holy. It contains light to direct you, food to support you, and comfort to cheer you. It is the traveler's map, the pilgrim's staff, the pilot's compass, the soldier's sword, and the Christian's charter. Here paradise is restored, Heaven opened, and the gates of hell disclosed. CHRIST is its grand subject, our good the design, and the glory of God its end. It should fill the memory, rule the heart, and guide the feet. Read it slowly, frequently, and prayerfully. It is a mine of wealth, a paradise of glory, and a river of pleasure. It is given you in life, will be opened at the judgment, and be remembered forever. It involves the highest responsibility, will reward the greatest labor, and will condemn all who trifle with its contents. Author Unknown

Cayo Deaf Institute in Belize Report

March 13, 2012 Sarah and I are in our third month here at the Cayo Deaf Institute in Belize this year. Sarahs work continues to be caring for our house and laundry and helping with clean-up after meals in the school kitchen. I have finished the bulk of the work on the remodeling of the bathroom in the boys dormitory. I am involved in some renovations which have allowed the school to move the office to a much more satisfactory location. The focus of my current work is to renovate the electrical wiring serving the dining room, the new office and the schools water well. This has meant a lot of time and travel to consult with the electric company and electricians to meet local electrical regulations. I also spend time securing supplies or special tools, occasionally donated or at deep discounts. The businesses in the local Mennonite colony are very supportive of the work here at CDI. I also worked at fabricating items like the mast we built and attached to the end of the dining hall to carry the electric and phone lines. I am drawing plans, estimating costs and seeking approval from the board for the remodeling of a bathroom for a girls dormitory for next years project by a mission organization which comes from the southern states each winter. And finally I am organizing for the upcoming mission team from Chapel Church. This includes organizing for some preliminary work like plastering a section of wall in the church as well as having supplies on hand for the team. I am contacting host families for the weekend home visits, making arrangements for transportation to and from the airport, and making the arrangements for our final day on the island of Caye Caulker. Sarah and I enjoyed the visit from Susan Beichley and her brother Shawn and the following week the visit from my brother Evan and his wife Cindy. Both of these sets of visitors were an encouragement to us and a blessing to the school as they shared in the work on the current projects, led devotions in the weekly staff prayer meetings, and encouraged the staff by their presence in the life of the school. Now that the mission teams and visitors are gone we are spending more time strengthening our relationships in the local community by visiting old and new friends. There is a custom in the local Mennonite community of an extended family meal every week or two at the home of the parents. We have been fortunate to be invited to some of these and at one such supper last week there were seven married children with their spouses and around 30 grandchildren present. One of our required activities here is to travel to the capitol city, Belmopan, every 30 days to renew our visas. I also have to be sure to keep the license and insurance current on our pickup. On Sunday mornings we divide our time between attending the services at the deaf church here at CDI or visiting one of the five district congregations of the German speaking Kleine Geminde Mennonite church which sponsors this mission to the deaf. Along with the blessing of sharing in the corporate worship with fellow Christians in each of these churches there is the added custom of always being invited out to Sunday dinner in some families home. This past Sunday we varied our routine by attending the 3 hour long services at Upper Barton Creek which is a very conservative Amish-like community set way back in a remote area almost an hours drive from us.

As we begin to think about our return to Iowa on April 10 we praise God for: leading us to serve here Continued good health the supportive staff and administration here at CDI the encouragement and prayers of the people of Chapel Church Blessings, Dan and Sarah Beane
