Statement of the Problem

India is a vast landscape amazing wildlife which is very diverse and a huge number of animals inhabit this place. India is home to half of worlds wild tigers, more than half of Asiatic elephants, only population of one horned rhinoceros, endemic population of lion tailed macaque, good number of rare kind cobra, last population of Asiatic Lions, endemic population of Swamp deer, swamp buffalos, wild dog-dholes, snow leopards, mugger crocodiles, Indian gharial, Great Indian bustards and many more. Indian biodiversity hot spot western ghats is home to countless rare and endemic species. But there are some threats to this immense bio-diversity, such as : o Loss of habitat, o Poaching, etc. Also there is a strong need of awareness among Common population of India that how much important these animals are and in what way they are being treated. Problems are: i. There is no single source from where one can know about our very diverse and huge number of animal species. There is no Platform for Activists where they can Protest, Discuss, spread awareness or share their knowledge about wildlife. There is no source for Students where they can learn about specific animals, danger to specific species etc. There is no online database available for Extinct, at the verge of Extinction and Endangered species. There is no website/domain which offers Wildlife activists/Experts membership and where they can share their research work, experience, share photos, can write comments etc.

With this, it will act as a platform for wildlife conservationists and ecologists to share their knowledge and recent trends in this field. It will incubate research and participation on subjects like animal communications, habitats, wildlife health issues, effects of global warming and various disasters. The site will also offer online Discussions where users can discuss a given/chosen Topic. Technologies to be used The following technologies will be used in our Project : 1. J2EE : Java 2 Enterprise Edition, a.k.a. Advanced Java. It will be used for Server side programming. 2. XML : Extensible Markup Language. It will be used in combination with AJAX. 3. AJAX : Asynchronous JavaScript And XML. It will be used for Dynamic content update and increasing interactivity. Tools to be used: ROSE/RSA / WebSphere Modeler Eclipse/ RAD / Lotus Forms Designer / Portlet Factory WebSphere Portal/ WAS/ WAS CE / WPS DB2 Express C or DB2 UDB Tivoli CDP/TSM / Tivoli Directory Server Linux will be the preferred OS.

Indian Wildlife

Indian Wildlife

Process Model
We have chosen Iterative Enhancement Model for our project development.

Advantages of this Model: i. This model has the same phases as the waterfall model, but with fewer restrictions. Phases may be conducted in several cycles. Useable product is released at the end of the each cycle, with each release providing additional functionality. Customers and developers specify Requirements and then prioritize them. Then developers implement the specified requirements in one or more cycles of design, implementation and test based on the defined priorities.
