church in Corinth to come through on their promise to give an oering for the Poor in Jerusalem. When he initially shared with them the need of the poor; each person was so red up to help but as time went on they went back to their old ways and left the poor people in Jerusalem hanging. There is a great importance in staying encouraged, keeping that fire of enthusiasm; that passion burning in our hearts to nish the good that God has empowered us to start in our lives. It is easy to give up or think that o u r o b l i g a t i o n h a s p a s s e d o n ce o u r beginning has been interr upted by circumstance, but we are called to nish what we began since only by nishing can we exude Gods light in our life. Friends, there should be an intentional desire to nish what was begun, there should be a strong passion to accomplish what we started; for our King never left a project unnished; never moved a prophecy that did not come to fruition; our God nishes what He began. He completes each objective from the creation of the world when He rested on the 7th day to the authoring and nishing of our salvation with the words of Christ on that cross signaling its completion when he cried: It is Accomplished So I encourage you today, I exhor t you to stand firm; do not be weakened by the momentar y trials or diculty we may face but: Be Encouraged and Finish what you started.

WORD FROM THE PASTOR

Dear Friend, Gods blessing be upon you and your family. Last week, we moved to encourage one another to keep the fire of accomplishing the good work God started in us to burn brightly. May we stand intentional in nishing what we began, steadying ourselves to accomplish what we started by the grace of God. This is my prayer for you dear brethren, that in the small/big things you may stand to finish what we began by focusing ourselves on God alone and seeking His guidance as we nish well in the race of life.

2 Corinthians 8:11 - Now nish the work, so that your eager wi#ingness to do it may be matched by your completion of it, according to your means. Most of the time we nd ourselves in a situation where there is a need, or a chance to begin or change something & initially we are enthusiastic. We are easily red up in the beginning but lack the staying power to continue on especially when our enthusiasm wanes and our zeal run out. Like the people of Corinth, we waned in accomplishing the good God has planted in our hearts to do. There is a term for this in tagalog called: Ningas Kugon pertaining to the cogon grass that easily goes up in ames with a single spark yet burns out quickly. This particular term speaks of the mentality of many for we begin well, start well- and never nish. In this verse, Paul is challenging the

3 STEPS TO FINISHING THE GOOD WORK GOD HAS BEGAN IN US

STEP 1: BE INTENTIONAL Let us not be satised with having began a good work nor think that the intention was sucient. If we felt it our duty to aid in a cause of benevolence or began a good work, and have commenced it, then suddenly have been interrupted by circumstancedesire to accomplish it; be intentional in completing it STEP 2: STEADY YOURSELF IN THE LORD- We cannot move up, develop and grow; we cannot reach the peak God ordained us to reach if we are easily torn down, easily distracted and lack the stability to soldier on- Our Altitude depends on our Attitude. STEP 3: TRUST IN GOD ALONE- God will be faithful to complete the good work He began if we stand in faith, intentionally desiring its completion and devoting our time and eort to accomplish what we can for the glory of Christ Jesus. Philippians 1:6 states: being condent of this, that He who began a good work in you wi# carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
