Course Description The course covers the study of the five pillars of the justice system in the Philippines Law Enforcement, Prosecution, Court, Correction and Community. It covers their respective functional relationship as well as individual roles in the administration of the justice system in the solution of crimes. V. Rationale The course is designed to meet the needs of the students in preparation for their higher subjects to help the students understand the system as an instrument for crime prevention and control. It will also make the students know the objectives and goals of its criminal justice pillar and its relationship as a whole system. To encourage the student to know by heart their role as a member of the society. VI. Objectives At the end of the course, the student should be able to: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. List down the pillars of the criminal justice system in the Philippines; Explain the general functions and operations of the criminal justice system; Identify the loop holes and recommend solution to some problems in the justice system; Elaborate the importance of the five pillars of the CJS; and Evaluate individual responsibility in the maintenance of peace and order in the community. Identify the different factors that affects the rehabilitation of the exconvict; 3. Identify the importance of the community in the rehabilitation of the offender; and 4. Identify the roles of the different units in the community in the CJS process.
