The global market for organic food has developed significantly in the past decade. Increasing health and environmental awareness among consumers is the major reason behind the stupendous growth of this market. This is because organic food is that food which is not exposed to any kind of chemicals during its growing, manufacturing, processing, or packaging. Moreover, organic fruits and vegetables are grown without using pesticides and are preservative-free on every level. The growth of organic farming on the mainland had been explosive for the past few years. Organic farming will emerge as one of the fastest growing sector in the future as more and more people are demanding the natural and nutritious choices for their families. This is because fruits and vegetables grown in organic farms are found to have more antioxidants compared to those grown by the conventional method of agriculture. Recent industry trends show that consumers are becoming more health conscious, due to which many companies are producing new and improved organic foods. This can be witnessed by the increased use of Omega-3 fatty acids in the organic foods that make these foods healthier and help in avoiding health

problems. Omega-3 fatty acids may also act as an anticoagulant to prevent blood clotting and can also help in lowering high blood pressure. So, the companies are nowadays engaged in producing more organic food stuffs without the use of pesticides and fertilizers. With the changing socioeconomic scenario and rising concern towards safety and security of food products throughout the world, the global organic food market is witnessing massive overhaul in terms of products, services, and regulations. Industry Developments
Rising Popularity of Organic Food to Boost Organic Farming
Organic farming is one such form of agriculture that relies on techniques such as crop rotation, green manure, compost, and biological pest control to maintain soil productivity and control pests on a farm. It is characterized by increasing profits via reduced water use, nutrient-contamination by pesticides, reduced soil erosion and carbon emissions, and increased biodiversity. As organically grown plants are nourished naturally therefore, organic foods can be stored for a longer period and they do not rot easily. The concept of organic farming is gradually gaining momentum across the world due to the rising popularity of organic foods. People are becoming more aware of the impact that their food choices have on their health. With the widespread craze for organic food more people are switching to healthier, organic versions of their favorite fruits, vegetables, meats, and other products. Organic foods are cultivated using farming practices that work to preserve and protect the environment, reducing the pollution that can occur with the applications of agricultural chemicals to the land. Organic Agriculture can significantly reduce carbon dioxide emissions which are harmful for the environment. Thus, organic farming also helps in stabilizing global climate change. One of the emerging trends that are important to broadening the appeal of organic farming into the future is an expansion of educational and informational programs related to organics and organic practices. Currently, it has been seen that many countries are conducting workshops to educate people on the economic, environmental, and health benefits of organically produced products and to promote greater interest in producing organic products. Moreover, the governments of many countries are planning to increase the organic farm land to promote organic farming among farmers.

Due to the widespread popularity of organic foods it is expected that the number of people who regularly use organic products of different varieties, will double their consumption before the end of the current decade. Moreover, due to more land being utilized for organic farming it is expected that the costs associated with organic food products will begin to drop, making these items more attractive to a larger segment of the public.

Increased Usage of Essential Fatty Acids

Omega-3 fatty acids are considered as essential fatty acids. They not only play a vital role in the health of the membrane of every cell in our body, but also help to protect us from a number of major health threats. But the only problem associated to the fatty acids is that our body can't produce them, so we have to obtain it from our food. Omega-3 helps to prevent heart disease, cancer, depression, Alzheimer, rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes, ulcerative colitis, Reynaud's disease, and many other diseases. In this fast paced world to face all the health risks, one of the most important things one can do is to increase their intake of organic Omega-3 fortified foods. Nowadays, Omega-3 fortified products have surfaced as one of the most sought-after organic food item to ensure a better health development and stronger immunity system. Food technology is working on different ways of enhancing and heightening the nutritive power of specific foods as well as extracting the essential "good stuff" out of a particular food. The end result will be a concentrated food product augmented with beneficial nutritional capabilities, a "super food" that, ideally, will taste good and be good for health. Therefore, an increasing number of food manufacturers all over the world are trying to leverage the widening appeal of Omega-3 fortified food ingredients. As most of the new omega-3 products have neutral taste and odor characteristics, they are increasingly being incorporated into foods and beverages. It has been seen that many companies are nowadays producing organic milk containing higher amount of omega-3 and omega-3 rich eggs, which makes them much healthier. It is expected that the market for organic foods will be driven by the new omega-3 rich foods, particularly milk and eggs, which will help in preventing various diseases.

Focus on Organic Food Safety

Safe food production is the main cause of concern for all food producers. Certified organic growers follow strict guidelines for safe and hygienic food production. As with all food producers, they must comply with local, state, and federal health standards. Pasteurization, selected use of chlorine, and other food safety practices are also allowed and followed in organic production. From the last two decades organic food safety has been a growing concern for growers all over the world. The governments of various countries always recommend that the growers must practice safe and hygienic methods for producing food products. Consumers cannot distinguish between organic or conventional product on appearance or even by chemical analysis. The only way they can differentiate is through a labeling system. So, considering this fact the governments of various countries are coming up with new laws for clear and accurate food labeling. Besides, spot-testing method is also widely being used in many countries to ensure organic or conventional nature of the food. It is expected that many more legislations governing organic food safety will come up in future.
