DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF GLOBAL UNIVERSITY SYSTEM

1. INTRODUCTION

Objective and purpose

The project Global University System is an application which has been developed keeping in mind the requirements of the University. The project aims at developing a system for a Global University which includes all facilities for students who are studying in that University. This system includes the new concept of E-governance which is proving very helpful now a days for student. 2.

Problem Definition and Proposed Solution

Existing System
The previous System of University Management System was very time consuming process. This project solves problem of time as well as minimize the cost. As far as concerning this thing student can rapidly access their result, exam time table their profile. The project aims at developing a system for a Global University which includes all facilities for students who are studying in that University

Limit
Our application is limited up-to core concept of E-governance. This system does not provide the facility like mail alert and SMS alert and for transaction purpose we are using third party banking system.

Hardware Interfaces
Client Side: Processor Pentium IV at 500 MHz RAM Disk Space 64 MB 1 GB

Java Environment & Virtual Machine

Server Side: sphere application server V5.0 Pentium IV at 1 GHz My SQL 512 MB 1GB (Excluding data size)

Software Interfaces
Client on machine: Net beans 6.8 Ide, Operating System (Windows XP , Linux) Data Base Server: My SQL, Operating System (Windows XP, Linux) Development End: J2EE, Java, Servlets, JSP, JavaScripts, My SQL ,OS (Windows XP)

Communications Interfaces
Client on Internet will be using HTTP protocol.

Client on Intranet will be using TCP/IP protocol.

Local client will be using FTP

Conclusion
University Administrator has the functionality of registering new colleges and courses. College Administrator has the rights of creating department, allocating courses to departments, creating faculties, students and allocating subjects to faculties, and modifications in the data entered by the user can also be done by the college administrator. User of this may be faculty or students. Faculty has the facility of entering the marks and attendance of the students. Students can check their marks and attendance but there is no chance of modifications. Reports must be generated for the existing data i.e. for attendance and marks of the students, which are used to assess the performance of the students. These reports should be viewed by the in charge and user.
