Gold Brick
It is said that a pious person once gained possession of a gold

treasure of his, thinking of delicious foods, fancy clothing, and
servants all around him at all times. That night he lost himself
in dreaming of fantasies of a fancy and luxurious life and had
become completely negligent of the Creator

.
. When he
left his house in the morning day dreaming of his previous
nights fantasies he passed by a cemetery wherein he saw a man
using the soil of a grave to make bricks. This awakened him
and removed the veil of negligence from his eyes. He began to
weep and thought to himself, What if people make bricks
from the soil of my grave after I die? My fancy houses, my
posh clothes, everything will be left behind. Falling for a gold
brick will only lead to living a life of negligence. I should love
All

.
instead of this golden brick. Therefore, He left the
brick and adopted the life of piety.

Causes of Negligence
My Dear Islamic Brothers! Truly, the favours in the form of
worldly wealth may well lead to negligence. The one interested
in the worldly luxuries falls prey to negligence which is extremely
harmful. Negligence moves a person away from All

.
.
Good trade is a favour, wealth is a favour, a grand house is a
favour, grand transport is a favour, children are also a favour
for parents, and over-interest and undue involvement in any
worldly favour or luxury is negligence. The 9
th
verse of Sra-
tul-Munfiqn (part 28) says:

TRANSLATION FROM KANZ-UL-IMN
O believers! Let not your wealth and your children divert
you from the remembrance of Allah

.
and whoever does
so, they are really in loss.
The foregoing verse contains ample lesson especially for those
who reject the invitation to goodness and al by saying, Im
busy earning livelihood; getting sustenance and satisfying the
needs of family is also a good deed, when I have time Ill join
you in the Masjid. Certainly, it is negligence that makes a person
utter such sentences.
A Dead Mans Cries are of No Use
O you who are engrossed in earning the worldly wealth only,
O you who travel to the far-flung countries of the world
bearing difficulties just for getting wealth but avoid attending
the Masjid, O you who spend huge amount of money on the
decoration of your house, but don't spend your wealth in the
way of All

.
, O you who adopt different sorts of tricks to
multiply your wealth but remain indifferent to the enhancement
of your good deeds; wake up from the sleep of negligence
before death puts an end to your life taking you out of the
comfortable beds of illuminated rooms, burying you into the
dark grave full of insects and leaving you screaming out, O
Negligence
4
All

.
send me back into the world so that I can worship
you, send me back, Ill spend all my wealth for your pleasure,
Ill offer all my al with the first Takbr with jamat
(congregation), Ill never miss even Taajjud, Ill stay in the
Masjid all the time, Ill grow my beard as well as tresses, Ill
wear turban on my head all the time, O All

.
send me
back, give me another chance, Ill eradicate fashion from the
world and spread the Sunna everywhere, O All

.
! Give
me just one more chance; Ill do lots of good deeds. Negligent
sinners' screaming and regretting will not benefit them at all as
the Holy Quran has already warned us in the 10

and 11

TRANSLATION FROM KANZ-UL-IMN

And spend something out of Our provision in Our way
before death comes upon any of you and say, O my Lord

.
! Why did You not grant me respite for a little time, so
that I might have given alms and been among the righteous.
And Allah

.
will never grant respite to any soul when its
appointed time has come; and Allah

.
is Aware of your
doings.

Unusual Shame
ujja-tul-Islm Imm Muammad Ghazl

,
writes in
Mukshafa-tul-Qulb that Sayyidun Shaykh Ab Ali Daqqq

,
said, Once a great saint

,
fell seriously ill, so I
went to visit him. There were a large number of devotees
around the saint who was crying, I asked him, O Sheikh! Are
you crying because of leaving the world? He replied, Not at
all, I am weeping for missing my al. I asked, Your grace,
how can you be expected to miss your al (you were never
seen missing any al)? He replied, I always prostrated in
negligence and lifted my head from prostration in negligence,
and now, I am dying in the state of negligence. He then heaved
a deep sigh from the depths of his heart and read out these
four Arabic couplets whose translation is follows: -
1. I pondered about resurrection, judgement and lying in
my grave.
2. Even after such glory and honour, I will be left alone and
the soil will be my pillow.
3. I have thought about the judgement and my book of deeds
as well.
4. But O Almighty, Creator! I hope you will forgive my sins.
(Mukshafa-tul-Qulb, P22, Dr-ul-Kutub-ul-Ilmiyya Beirut)
Crying at the Time of Entering Hell
My Dear Islamic Brothers! The foregoing story contains ample
lesson for all of us. The sincere saints who spent each and every
Negligence

moment of their life remembering All

.
were so humble
that they never valued and relied their worship and never
boasted about their good deeds, instead, they often cried with
the fear of All

.
. Regretfully, the negligent people who
are actually unaware of even the proper way of worship that is
devoid of sincerity as well are often seen bragging openly about
their worship. The pious men of All

.
tremble with His
fear, weep and shed tears despite being protected from sins, but
people who live in negligence continue their sinful activities,
publicly announce their crimes and then laugh over them.
Listen carefully! ujja-tul-Islm Imm Muammad Ghazl

says that Sayyidun Abdullah ibn Abbs

,
said,
The one who commits sins laughingly will enter the Hell crying.

.
What if Ones mn is Lost?
There is a matter of concern for those who commit different
sins laughingly such as lying, breaking promises, selling faulty
things, watching films and dramas, listening to music, causing
grief to Muslims and hurting their feelings. What will happen
if All

and His beloved Rasl

become
displeased resulting in the loss of faith due to committing sins
negligently and laughingly, and leading to Hell? Listen to this
warning carefully, All

Let them laugh little and weep much, in recompense what
they used to earn.
Three Messengers of Death
ujja-tul-Islm Sayyidun Imm Muammad Ghazl

,

narrates in Mukshafa-tul-Qulb that Sayyidun Yaqb
.

.|

and the Angel of death Sayyidun Izrl
.

.|

were friends;
Once when the Angel of death came, Sayyidun Yaqb
.

.|

asked, Have you come just to meet me or to take my soul?
He answered, To meet you. Sayyidun Yaqb
.

.|

said,
Before you take my soul, send me some messengers (to let me
know), the Angel of death said that he would send one or two
messengers. When the Angel of death came to take his soul,
Sayyidun Yaqb
.

.|

asked, You assured me to send

some messengers before taking my soul, where are they?,
Sayyidun Izrl
.

.|

replied, White hair after black hair,

weakness after strength and a bent back after a straight one,
Oh Yaqb

.|
! These are the messengers I send to people
before death. (Mukshafa-tul-Qulb, P21 Dr-ul-Kutub-ul-Ilmiyya Beirut)

There is great warning for us is in the translation of the following
two verses of Arabic poetry:
Negligence
8
Translation
Days have passed but sins remain, the Angel of death has arrived but the
heart is negligent
Your worldly luxuries are a deceit which you will regret; your desire to live
in the world forever is useless. (ibid)
Sickness is Deaths Messenger
My Dear Islamic Brothers! We have realised that the Angel of
death sends its messengers before death, there are messengers
apart from those already stated; sickness, and eyesight and
hearing problems are also messengers of death. Sayyidun
Izrls
.

.|

messengers have already reached many of us,

but we are negligent! If ones hair begin to turn white, he regards
it as an effect of flu despite the fact that it is a messenger of
death! If one falls ill, despite this being a messenger of death,
he remains negligent, he forgets that illnesses kill innumerable
people every day, the sickness that seems minor could possibly
become fatal, and then his dear ones will cry and his enemies
will rejoice and he will be buried in his dark grave along with
only his good or bad deeds.
Name on the Gate of Hell
Remember! The one who lives in negligence and continues to
commit sins has lost the way and has wandered into the darkness
of evil, if All and His beloved Rasl
,

_.

.
become
displeased with him, he will be punished in the afterlife where
Negligence
9
regret and shame will not be able to save him. You still have a
chance, quickly repent with sincerity and make a firm intention
to live your life in accordance with the Sunna. Our Holy
Prophet
,

_.

.
has warned, The name of the one
deliberately missing a single al is written on the gate of Hell
through which he will enter (ilya-tul-Auliy, V7, P299, ad 10590,
Dr-ul-Kutub-ul-Ilmiyya Beirut)
Another ad says, If a person misses a single fast in the
month of Raman without a valid reason, he cannot compensate
for that one missed fast even if he keeps fasting his whole life.
(Jmi-e- Tirmi,, V2, P175, ad 723, Dr-ul-Fikr Beirut)
Fire in the Eyes
Anyone who stares at women, watches films, listens to music
and backbiting should repent instantly because ujja-tul-Islm
Imm Muammad Ghazl

,
says, Anyone filling his
eyes with arm will have them filled with fire on the day of
judgement. (Mukshafa-tul-Qulb, P10, Dr-ul-Kutub-ul-Ilmiyya Beirut)
Nails in Eyes and Ears
The famous ad scholar and great Shfi saint Allma
Jall-ud-dn Suy Ash-Shfi

,
says, (On the night of
Marj) the blessed Prophet
,

_.

.
saw that nails had
been hammered into the eyes and ears of some people. He was
told, They watched what you do not watch and listened to
what you do not listen to. (Shar-us-udr, P171, Dr-ul-Kutub-ul-
Ilmiyya Beirut)
Negligence
10
So people who look at and listen to arm things will have nails
hammered into their eyes and ears. Beware! Do not even watch
the news on the TV. Remember! Man's watching a woman and
a womans watching a man with lust, both are arm and every
arm will lead to hell. (All

.
forbid)
Face Like a Fire Worshipper
My Dear Islamic Brothers! To shave the beard completely and
to reduce it less than a fists length are both arm. Sayyidun
Imm Muslim

,
narrates that the Beloved Rasl of All
,

_.

.
has warned, Trim your moustaches, let your
beards grow and do not imitate the fire worshippers. (a
Muslim, V1, P129)
This ad is a challenge to a Muslim's love for Islam and Sunna,
how strange, claiming to love the Prophet
,

_.

.
but
imitating the enemies of the Prophet
,

_.

.
.
The Rulings of Veil (Parda)
My Islamic Sisters who are listening to me from behind the
veil! Listen! Not covering your bodies is arm, casting a lustful
glance at men who are Ghar Maram (those whom one is
allowed to marry) is arm and will lead to hell. A man must
avoid looking at, talking to and being alone with all his female
cousins, he must also avoid the same in regards to his aunties
daughters. The same applies to a man and his own sister in law.
In fact, the same ruling applies to a woman and her spiritual
Pr-o-Murshid. A woman cannot kiss the hands of her Pr-o-
Negligence
11
Murshid, she can not even have her head stroked by him. Girls
should be kept veiled from the age of 9, and boys from the age
of 12.
Prohibited Fashion
The Holy Prophet

_.

.
,

,
said, (On the night of
Marj) I saw the tongues of men being cut with scissors, when
I asked the reason, Jibrl
.

.|

answered, They adorned

themselves in the world using prohibited means. I also heard
screaming and shouting from a ditch from which a foul smell
was emanating, Jibrl
.

.|

explained, These are women who

adorned themselves with prohibited means.(Trkh Baghdad, V1,
P415 Dr-ul-Kutub-ul-Ilmiyya Beirut)
Remember! Nail polish forms a layer over the nail which means
neither Wu nor Ghusl is valid, and al is also invalid on
this account. I request Islamic sisters to wear a Madan Burqa,
socks and gloves and not to reveal even their hands or the soles
of their feet to men who are Ghar Maram
|,

.|

.
,

_.

.
Repeat Your al
If you have missed al or fasts, you must calculate and make
up for them, repentance for this delay is also necessary. I have
explained the easy way to make up for missed prayers in a
booklet called The method of Qa al which can be bought
Negligence

from Maktaba-tul-Madna It explains important rulings about
the topic.

The Body of Muammad Isn Ar
A young man called Muammad Isn of the Gul-bar area
of Karachi joined Dawat-e-Islami and became a disciple of
Sayyidun Ghou-e-Aam

,
through me. This brought
about a Madan transformation in his life. He grew a full beard
Negligence
13
and began to wear a green turban. He learnt how to read the
Holy Qurn at Madrasa-tul- Madna and began to approach
people in order to invite them towards goodness. Suddenly he
began to feel pain in his neck and despite treatment it got
worse and he found himself facing a life and death situation.
He used my published Will (available to buy from Maktaba-
tul- Madna) to write his own Will and sent it on to his local
Nigrn (in charge) a few days before he died. He was approximately
35 years old at the time of death and was buried in the local
cemetery. He had asked for Islamic Brothers to recite Naats
for about 12 hours near his grave and the Islamic brothers did
so.
On Tuesday 6
th
Jamdi-ul-khir 1418 (7
th
October 1997), about
three and a half years after his death, the body of another
Islamic Brother, Umn Ar, was brought to the same
cemetery for burial. Some of the attendees approached the
grave of Muammad Isn Ar

,
to pray but they
were astonished to see a big hole on one side of the grave
revealing the body. Muammad Isn Ar who had been
buried approximately three and a half years ago was lying
there with a green turban on his head, the body was still intact
and the shroud was still smelling of perfume. The news spread
like wild-fire and throughout the entire night people stood
there gazing at the body. Among those present were people
who had misunderstood Dawat-e-Islami and after witnessing
the mercy of All

.
on this Islamic brother, decided to
change their opinions and joined Dawat-e-Islami themselves.

Martyr of Dawat-e-Islami
My Dear Islamic Brothers! You might already be aware of the
fact that a murder attempt on the life of this humble servant of
the Sunna was made on the 25
th
Rajab 1416 in Lahore. As a
result of this attempt two Muballighn, j Uud Raz Ar
and Muammad Sajjd Ar

_.

,
were martyred. About
8 months later, it rained heavily in Lahore, due to which the
grave of j Uud Raz Ar

,
was damaged. It was
decided that the body would be transferred into another grave,
so his grave was dug up but to the amazement of those present,
they witnessed the body intact and unaffected. In the presence
of many people his body was moved.
This incident has been mentioned in detail in The blessings of
Dawat-e-Islami Part 2. I request all Islamic brothers and Islamic
Sisters to associate yourselves with the Madan environment of
Dawat-e-Islami. There is no membership process in Dawat-e-
Islami. Make an attempt to attend your local Dawat-e-Islami
Ijtim every week and to travel with Prophets devotees in
Madan Qfilas. Each and every single person should make
efforts to spread the message of the Sunna and invite others to
good in their own individual occupations and fields.
