EXPERIMENT
SILK VERSUS COTTON
at my kitchen sink watching in dismay as all
of the brilliant color that I had added ran
right out of a piece of gorgeous silk yardage
and straight down the drain. The drab piece
of fabric that | was left holding bore little
resemblance to the vibrantly-colored silk that
Thad envisioned using in my next art project.
Thad been slaving away for two days, painting
pieces of cotton and silk with the same
technique using the same Procion® MX dyes,
and the two pieces looked nothing alike when
| was finished. Why was there such a dramatic
difference in the way that the Procion MX dyes
‘worked on the silk versus the way that they
dyed the cotton?
