show the entry list Configuring acknowledgeable messages for the TD200 Display part number QUESTION: How can I configure messages that are to be acknowledged on the TD200? ANSWER: If you want to ensure that important messages are displayed and specially handled by the operator, you can configure a message so that it has to be acknowledged. The message flashes when it is displayed on the TD 200. You must then press ENTER on the TD 200 to acknowledge the message. After a message has been acknowledged it stops flashing, the bit for the acknowledgment message is set in the CPU and the bit for release this message is reset in the CPU. Configuring an acknowledgeable message: 1. In STEP 7/MicroWin V3.1 select the menu command "Extras > TD 200 Wizard...". 2. Now you select "Next" in each window that is displayed. You repeat this until you get to the "Message 1 of n" window, where "n" is the number your specified two windows back for the number of messages to be configured. You can jump between the two windows using the "Back" and "Next" buttons. 3. Position you cursor on the first text field and enter your message text. The "Message 1 of n" window indicates - as of which byte (VB) the message text is stored (start address of the message) - and which marker in the user program of the S7 controller has to have the value "1" for the message to be displayed. 4. To make the message acknowledgeable you select the "Embedded data..." button. Note: When selecting the "Embedded data..." button, do not position the cursor at the end of the message. 5. There you select "Not available" as data format and enable the check box next to the text "Message must be acknowledged by user". 6. After acknowledging the window with OK the message window of the configured message number is displayed. In addition, now the acknowledgment message bit assigned to the message is displayed. This is generated automatically by the system and cannot be changed. The bit is always generated from the data area reserved for this message. Example: If the start address of the message in the message window is specified as VB132 and you have defined a message of 20 characters configuration range, then the system generates the address of the acknowledgement message bit within the range of VB132 - VB151. This marker bit can be processed in the user program. 7. When you have configured an acknowledgeable message, click the "Close" button to quit the TD 200 Wizard. The acknowledgement message bit assigned to the message is reset automatically by the system to "1" in the CPU once the message has been acknowledged by the operator by pressing the ENTER key on the TD 200. And the bit that has activated the message (message release bit) is reset in the CPU. You have to reset the acknowledgment message bit manually in the user program. Keywords: Message configuration
