Open "Start > Run". Enter regedit in the Open line and confirm with "OK". Open the directory HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SOFTWARE\ SIEMENS\ Shared Tools. Check if the entry S7IVI is there.

After the installation of STEP 7 Micro/WIN Version3.2 + SP4, the entry S7IVI is available in the Registry again. Important: Do not make any manual change in the registry. No warranty can be given for direct changes in the registry, since this is the responsability of the user. In any case it is recommendable, to make a backup of the registry before accessing the registry as decribed above. These settings are moreover computer specific. This means, they must be carried out once more when copying the project on another computer. Note: The Service Pack 4 (SP4) for STEP 7 Micro/WIN Version 3.2 can be found in Entry ID 16520047.

STEP 7-Micro/WIN SP4 keeps running when you install S7-DOS QUESTION: STEP 7-Micro/WIN SP4 keeps running when you install S7-DOS. What can you do about it? ANSWER: Due to a fault in the DCOM settings, Windows Installer either doesn't react any more or reacts wrongly. Check your Windows operating system to see if a Service Pack is installed. If you are using MS Windows 2000, you need at least SP2 and if you are using MS Windows NT 4.0 you need SP6.

Click "Start" and then "Run". Then enter "regedit" and confirm with "OK". Please back up your current registry settings with "Registry > Export Registry File". Open the folder HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ Software\ Microsoft\ Ole Check whether the following entries are present: "LegacyImpersonationLevel" and "LegacyAuthenticationLevel". If these two values (REG_DWORD type) are present, they may not both have the value "1" simultaneously. If you change both to the value "2", that is the standard setting. The same applies if these two entries do not appear.

If the program has been installed correctly, the logfile should read as follows:

Fig. 2: Entry if installation has been successful Note: After quitting the installation procedure, STEP 7 - Micro / WIN must be completely removed from your PC in order to be able to reinstall it after making the changes to the registry setting! You will find this procedure described in Entry ID 14618173. Important: As a general rule we cannot accept liability for actual changes in the registry database. This is the responsibility of the user alone.. In any case we recommend backing up your registry before taking the steps described. The settings also vary from one computer to another. This means that when you copy the project to another computer you must repeat them.
