Reading Streets is our reading and writing curriculum. Each week we will read a story and focus on a specific reading skill and strategy. The program also has a phonics skill and writing trait for the week. Our Science and Social Studies topics are aligned to the weekly stories in the Reading Streets program. We also use Sunbeams hands on science curriculum.

Classroom Expectations: We have high expectations for the students in our room. We expect the students to achieve academically to their fullest potential. We expect students to contribute in a positive manner to our classroom. The following is a list of rules for room 107. 1. Take care of yourself 2. Take care of others 3. Take care of other things We use the Rick Morris' Clip Chart behavior management system. It is a simple discipline strategy for promoting positive behavior.

Take Home Folders: Please check these folders nightly and return them each day. All important papers and finished work will be sent home in this folder each day in the left pocket of the folder Homework: Your child will be given homework packets each Monday. Homework will reflect the skills that we are covering. These packets are due on Friday. If the homework appears to be too difficult or too easy for your child, feel free to modify it. We do not punish children who dont return their homework, but we often reward those who do. Newsletter: We want to make sure you are informed of upcoming events and what

It's important to note that students are able to move up and down the chart during the day. They move their clip one space at a time and are not stuck on a particular color for the entire day. However, if a student makes it to Teacher's Choice or Parent Contact, they still have to serve the consequence even if they are able to move back up the chart.
If you would like to learn more about Rick Morris' Clip Chart, check out this free e-book about it: http://www.newmanagement.com/ebooks/...hart_ebo ok.pdf
