Executive Summary

The future for myself entails a rigorous climb to the top of a business environment. The skills I need to obtain this goal are intelligence, patience, and a hard work ethic. After surveying a few job advertisements related to my goals it was apparent that there are certain required skills. Experience in the construction industry is going to be the main factor when marketing yourself in this industry. Employers also seek an applicant who has a construction related college degree. The profiles of construction estimators also gave insight to who these people are interacting with.

Following graduation of Arizona State University the industry I am interested in continuing a career in is construction management. I would like to continue working at Chasse Building Team following graduation from the Herberger School of Design. I have proved

throughout three successful years of employment that I am able of performing as an estimator. Estimators work specifically in the pre-construction phase of the construction process and I thoroughly enjoy watching a building go up from the design phase all the way to completion. A construction estimators duties come from a wide range of talent ranging everywhere from subcontractor communication to working with the owner/architect directly on pricing. When looking to hire an estimator, general contractors are searching for a very bright goal oriented individual with extensive experience in the financial side of a project.

This type of professional career requires long hours and dedication to work. I expect to put in over 50 hours a week working as an estimator. .

What are people looking for when they hire folks in these types of positions.

Employers are searching for knowledgeable experience in the entire construction process. Due to the fast pace learning curve via world wide web companies value experience over knowledge.
