SYLLABUS
The first stop in your journey to learn the art of electronics! l i ! We will be covering a large volume of material during this course. Hopefully, this course will be both informative and fun.
There are four main topics covered in the course: 1. Physics of conduction in semiconductors y f 2. Solid-state diodes and their use in non-linear circuits 3. 3 Physics and applications of Field Effect Transistors (FET) 4. Logic circuit design
Class meets: Monday: 13:30-16:30 Friday: 13:30 16:30 13:30-16:30 Required textbook: Microelectronic Circuit Design by
Jaeger (3rd Ed.) g ( )
The Laboratory: weekly lab sessions. Homeworks: weekly homework assignments (from sec. Week) Note!
*Homeworks will be handed out each Friday and collected at the beginning f h l b i i of the class the following Friday. h f ll i F id p ( ) *No late homework will be accepted (?)

You are encouraged to discuss the p g problems with other students but the final work that you y hand in should be your own work.
There will be a total of 6 homeworks. You will p f pp g have the option of dropping the one with the lowest grade; so only five of the homework g y assignments will be counted towards your final grade.
Exams:
There will be two in-class midterms and a final exam. in class exam No make-up exam will be given.(The purpose of any makeup p g ( p p y p
exam is to allow students, with legitimate reasons for missing a scheduled exam, to fulfil the requirements of a course).
Incompletes are not given out as course grades. The exams are normally closed-book, closed-note, and closed homework. A one-page write-up sheet will be allowed. Make sure to bring a calculator to all exams.
